Yummy, scummy service shennanigans

Buy your phone outright, hunt for good trade-in deals. Get a cheap prepaid plan. Subscribe/drop streaming services as needed.

You can something like Visible Wireless (Verizon under another name) "unlimited" prepaid for as little as $25/mo.

"A rose by any other name is still just a rose" (and a damned sleazy, greedy one in this case)

So I took my paid for & unlocked phone & went to da Fi for $25/mo unlimited everything, no contract, no fuss, no muss, haven't looked back since :D

Yeah, I get where you're coming from, but is Google really any better anymore? Fi was at least kinda interesting when it combined T-Mobile and Sprint, but since those merged it's just another MVNO (which is fine).

It's kind of a "pick your poison" situation, same as any other interaction with large corporations.

Fi is fine depending on where you live. T-mobile is still hit and miss in some places, albeit a lot better than 2 or 3 years ago.

I use T-mobile and my wife uses Visible. She definitely gets better coverage than I do.

Agreed for the most part :D

In my area at least, Fi works better than most other carriers, but they still have a few dead zones just like all the others, mvno or otherwise...

Hell, there is one 5 mile long stretch of road not far from my house (aka 19543 Zombie Lane :)) where NOBODY can get ANY signals whatsoever, regardless of carrier, phone or plan :(

Love/hate Verizon. I stick with them as I have FIOS Gigabit for internet and am happy with that service and I get a discount on both accounts for having both services.

I just switched to a Get More, Play More plan to avoid increasing Data overages on my old plan plus it came with Disney+/Hulu/ESPN bundle, which I had been paying for on my FIOS bill after a promotion ran out.

That screwed up the Disney subscription for a couple days and now cannot access Hulu or ESPN. It's a mess and I don't feel like calling their support at the moment. I almost jumped ship to Mint but then TMobile bought them....
