I use to have a Xfx 6800 NU PV-T40K-NDD7 from newegg. Something went wrong with it and I had to RMA it. Then newegg said they no longer had the PV-T40K-NDD7 so they refunded my money. I got that card for $164! Now newegg just has the PV-T40K-NDD3 going for $179. That made me kind of mad... I had to order a new card for $15 more. Oh well though.

For the life of me I couldn't figure out why it was $15 more than the older model. Tonight I found out... I just got my "NDD3" model from newegg and installed it. I opened up Rivatuner only discover that the 6th vertex shader is already on.

So they're charging $15 more for a card that comes with a stable 6th vertex shader. Stock is 12 pipes/6 vs, 325 core/750 mem. I'm going to try 16/6. I'm running passive though with the Zalman ZM80D-HP so we'll see what happens.

I just thought I'd share that interesting fact. Sorry if it's old news, consider yourself reminded ;)

EDIT: ok that's a no-go on the 16 pipes, immediate artifacts in 3dmark05.
