So I have a system that has a 40G SSD drive. We'd like to upgrade it to a 120G SSD. No other hardware or software is changing.

I was hoping to not have to reinstall. Is there a simple way to do this, like Norton Ghost or such? Is there a free alternative?

Just clone it and you should be fine. What have you used in the past to clone with?

Download and install Macrium Reflect Free edition. Then under task create a bootable disc. You'll have to download the Windows AIK as well, and point to that. Create and burn the boot disc. Then shut down the PC and attach your new SSD. Boot to the Macrium boot disc. Click the old drive, then choose clone, then choose the new drive. The default clone method is Intelligent, which is faster. If you want to do a bit level copy, choose forensics, but it's completely unnecessary in this case.

If you have a third drive (or 10 DVD-Rs), just use windows backup and restore.
