I just received my new i7 2700k and will be doing my build sometime in the next week. I keep hearing people ask what the "Max Multi" is when someone is talking about their chip and am not exactly sure what that means. Is it just the highest multiplier that they are able to get the machine to boot with?

Probably. There is a max multiplier that the BIOS allows you to set (maybe 57 or something like that?) but I think it depends on the board/BIOS - it doesn't depend on the CPU.

Most set a certain voltage and then see what they can get the max multi on the chip at. But it varies from user to user. But if it boots at 57x multi and you get into windows. then you got a max multi cpu of 57x. Thanks.
