Kaveri + Mantle = ?

Has anyone tried out the new mantle update on a 7X APU yet? I can't find any articles anywhere.

Awesome. So it's not a huge boost to the IGP performance... But it's better than nothing. Can't wait untill someone overclocks the balls off the IGP.

Remember Mantle is still in its early stages and it'll continue to evolve and becomes more efficient. ATM, it's main advantage is draw calls

What Mantle mainly does in games is remove CPU bottlenecks. So in situations where the GPU is the bottleneck, you won't see a big boost.

Yeah I gained 6 FPS to my AVG on the Star Swarm test with their most recent patch. Can't wait for it to mature.

Mantle would be better suited to something more akin to the X1/PS4's many-core Jaguar APUs. Lots of not-terribly-powerful CPU cores combined with a much larger number of GPU units is something that Mantle could scale well to, but performance in D3D/OGL apps would probably be much poorer.

They will. Stock gpu clock was just 720Mhz and I am sure it will do 900Mhz without any voltage tweaks. Potentially it could get into the 1.1Ghz with a stong cooler. Water block users might even push it much more. Would love to see how far that iGpu can go.
