Has anyone played with this setup?
I'm still trying to get my hands on a Grid 1K. I'm even tempted to hack a GTX 680 into a grid to play.

I'm interested in View 6 PCoIP graphics performance. PCI pass through and connecting a monitor to the a ESXi server sounds terrible but I understand its great for a HTPC setup.
I just want my view Desktops to rock some directx and OpenGL

I got a K1 but we are still running View 5.2. Performance is ok with about 20 fps when rotating fairly complex 3D models. I expect that performance will pick up substantially in View 5.3 or 6 since GPU cores can be dedicated to a desktop.

AFAIK hacking a GTX 680 merely changes the ID string and doesn't actually turn your card into a K1, meaning that you get the 680 performance via the K1 driver, but not K1 performance, though for a single user it probably won't matter either way.

@Thuleman - Great feedback and thank you!

Anyone else have any vGPU stories?
- VMware vs Citrix/Xen
- Grid vs FirePro

Are any IT Shops using View to broker a rack full of Mac Mini / mini desktops instead of dealing with the cost of Virtual GPU?

I need to find a hardware dealer that has some deep discounts for "educational testing."

Thank you!
Nick
