I'm looking to build a storage server with the Norco 4224. I was planning on getting two LSI 9201-16I HBA cards. Would it be best to alternate the SAS backplanes with the two cards. Say put backplane 0, 2, 4 on one card and 1, 3, and 5 on the second?

Once that is done if i were to say setup raid 10 volumes put two on each backplane so if one card happens to go down I still have access to the volume or is there a better way to accomplish this?

Thanks for any insight.

Definitely put mirror members each on separate controllers. As for backplanes, just make sure no two mirror members are on the same backplane. That should be it.
