50/50 chance this is true.. EOL for Windows 11 is still unknown, and it is rumored that Windows 12 will have several new requirements that obsolete pretty much every platform today without mfgs supporting TPM 3.0 (but maybe some later chipsets will?)..
Rumored requirements for Windows 12:

Thanks for sharing.. helps put things in context
That single core performance is very good, and overall incredible! Based on your handle, I assume you are running "Below Ambient" for those scores , how many watts are you pulling?
15th gen and beyond is going to get very interesting.. and as...
I had a 550 Watt Cooler Master in use for > 15 years on numerous builds.. It was even running without good airflow so the fan would run elevated for over a year (on 24x7).. still worked fine... but I never run my PSUs above 1/2 capacity.
Gave it away to a friend and still in use for like 18...
I have an EVGA 650 G2 PSU (for about 5 years)..
https://www.evga.com/articles/archive/00927/EVGA-SuperNOVA-650-550-G2-Power-Supplies/default.asp
but it came with 2 / 4 pin CPU cables (not the 4+4 CPU connectors that join for a single 8 pin connector).. My recently acquired 12700K / Z690...
I used to chase the latest and greatest for FPS, but no longer do as I don't really game much anymore.. I moreso chase value from buying / selling used...
I picked up a TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI D4 and a 12700K combo off of Marketplace for $225, and it is quite an upgrade from my 9900K / Z390...
I've been holding out for an upgrade as my 9900K / Z390 is still serving my non gaming needs quite well.. With the proliferation of AI and various other reasons to "keep up", I am looking forward to how Arrow Lake is going to pan out.. It would be nice to have a single thread to follow...
I bought my daughter an M Macbook Air this past week, I am very impressed by it too.. I might buy my own and dump my windows laptop..
One thing of concern around the interwebs is how much swap usage one may encounter.. especially for 8/256... but at the same time, I saw this thread and this...
Honestly, after buying our first Apple M MacBook I am very impressed.
I am following developments in the ARM / RISC space for the desktop / laptop market on the windows platform.. I honestly believe that needs a separate discussion thread..
My daughter just received an iPad Air / 5th generation (new) as a gift from a friend that wants her to do the graphic art for a book she is writing...
I am quite impressed with it.. also impressed she got it for free and that someone saw her talent enough to set her up. Something she can add to...
With this refresh, I am kind of wondering if they addressed the lag concern with 12th and 13th gen ?
"Intel 12th and 13th Gen Intel Core processors (and likely also 14th Gen) have higher latency than 10th or 11th Gen Intel Core processors. This is a problem in the architecture which moved the...
Paid $120 for my 6600XT used (no mining) a couple of months ago, sold my old 960XT 4GB for $40.. same as what I paid for it used in 2018 or so.. no complaints at all.
There have been huge advancements in CPU and GPU capability, along with overall inflation in everything else..
I buy / trade...
This is a killer deal.. I thought I got a deal on the 980 Pro 2 TB about 3 weeks ago for $105 ...
I would have preferred this over the 980 Pro.. but in the end, I have more than what I need for now.. I still do not have PCIE 4x to take advantage of full speed.
PCIE 5 is starting to get legs...
My 24 year old desk enclosing my 15 year old open air case..
No cable management, Definitely not sexy.. but cool and quiet, ultimately out of sight / out of mind.. The case is extremely stable. For USB 3+, I have a hub on my desk for that.
My 100% oak large (and very heavy) Corner desk from...
Yeah... it really depends on how power hungry the new 14X intel chips will be for me.. might have to wait longer or consider AMD... AMD has had various Bios issues over the years for certain chips / chipsets that have been somewhat of a deterrent.
NVME drives are getting dirt cheap.
Just bought a 980 Pro for my 9900K rig (retiring 2 1 TB drives in Raid 0 that have 70k hours on them)... so yeah limited to PCI 3.0 for now.. Will probably upgrade with a 14th gen Intel later this year or early next if the reviews are compelling.. but no...
NVME SSD prices are getting crazy good right now..
The SN850 is definately an impressive drive.. i was debating that or the 980 Pro as I tend to do a mix of workstation loads / games

Yesterday, I picked up a new Samsung 980 Pro...
1.) Loved my 300A on a BX440 back in the day.. In the top 3 of all time greats.
2.) AMD's 5X86 and Athlon XP were great bang for the buck. Athlon XP was in it's day qualifies to be in the top 10 for value.
3.) AMD X2 lineup was OK until Core 2 came around .. then I ran an OC'd Q6600 for...
6.2 ghz boost (if not FUD) looks very appealing..
From:
For me, I honestly upgrade about every 5 generations or so (when I can enjoy a doubling in performance, and other enhancements mature).. So I am currently running a 9900k (upgraded from a 4790k), so something like a 14600k would be...
Another option
12700k cpu, mobo, and 16gb (8gb x2) of DDR4 @ microcenter for $350, + 25 off for "new customers" .... $325.. They also have a single stick 16gb DDR5 variant of this combo for the same price.
Might be an option you want to consider as a start... 12700k would blow away your...
I bought a used XFX 6600XT for $120 a couple of weeks ago..
anyhow, back on topic... good price, but I could see prices on new 6800's in the $4XX range this summer.
Installed the latest Adrenalin drivers, and set the fan to max out at 100%
This is after 30 min of Doom at ultra settings:
Fan noise does not bother me as I wear headphones, but I will probably redo the thermal paste with some MX-4.
Reading reviews, it seems XFX Radeon cards tend to run...
So I have not gamed for several years, but lately have been playing a little Counter Strike..
I have had a 960 GTX 4GB that has been handling that perfectly fine for 1920x1200 (dual monitors, gaming on only one), but just wanted some options to casually check out some newer titles..
So today...
Unfortunately, this has hardly anything to do with their GPU market share, but rather very large AI contracts..
Welcome to the Metaverse, have a nice day!

me? I am holding out a while longer as there is not enough performance / feature updates for me to...
meh, basically Raid 0 in a single drive.. double the possibility of failure.
I would only consider purchasing after these have been on the market / in use by others after 3 years and proven to be at least as reliable as current gen drives.
Tempted on this.. but the gains for me would only be recognized on multicore (~50%), and some single core improvements(~30%).. I assume I could get $250 for my 9900K, motherboard (Z390 Aourus Pro Wifi-CF) , and cooler (212 Evo--a little lacking).. but I would need an appropriate cooler to go...
Man I really miss $20 returned ECS motherboards in a battered box missing backplates... LOL, just kidding.. but yeah, for most things, just grab and go.
I did wait in a Black Friday line in the cold / around the building a time or two 15-20 years ago ... it was fun.
It seems to be shaping up for those still 'holding the line' for lower GPU prices could enjoy a nice Black Friday.
Hopefully the energy price spike some people will experience this winter does not further create more demand destruction with this next round of GPUs using > 500 watts LOL.
There...
When a 3060 can be bought below MSRP ~$200, I might bite..
4XXX cards will be here sooner or later anyhow. The clowns on FB marketplace are still asking more than current new prices.. eventually they will get desperate for a 4XXX
Although there is criminal activity being performed on Crypto, not all is criminal activity .. As far as criminal activity, it goes on everyday in the USD markets such as insider trading by CONgress and Federal Reserve Board members, greased numbers produced by the .gov (like labor stats, jab...
Good or bad, even with all the outright scam / pump and dump Meme coins and insane valuations for jpeg NFTs... Crypto creates economic activity... Even Pelosi has large holdings in Nvidia. Intel is now finally getting into the ring for making video cards.

The correlation to lower Crypto prices should reflect in lower graphics card prices in the coming months.... something something the 4 year crypto cycle.. last cycle many miners threw in the towel and liquidated GPUs as prices dropped and difficulty increased... history tends to repeat...

I am sure Rich enjoyed this video.. He fought Tesla for years over right to repair and other concerns as he would gather / use / sell used parts...
As a big Internet Finger to Tesla, he did this:
Just a newer spin on "manufactured housing" ... although much more durable..
The houses in the video are about the size and layout of early 50's houses after WW2... small rooms.. Many of us would like open and "airy".
Leaving the outside "ribbed" will be a mold trap... so if you leave it like...
Because of this news, I was tempted to dispose of my 4790k... but then again, I do think ARM is really going to be the next big shift this decade... so I will sit on the fence and ride my current X86 lineup as they are for a few years to see how things shake out. No big hurry to shift to 11...
I was excited when Frys opened stores in DFW in the late 90's, and scouting Frys ads weekly.... Bought alot of stuff (not just computer components).. After about 2007, I pretty much stopped going for PC components.. Alot of this had to do with my overclocked Q6600 being such a huge jump in...
I was always eyeing this chip for my main Z97 / 4790k rig before going to a 9700k..
In the mean time, I have also always wondered if Intel will surprise the market with adding EDRAM to their line up as somewhat of a counter measure to AMD if they get too much in the lead, even if it was for...
