Now that I saw an RX 6600 on sale for $270 Canadian I think I know what the real problem might be. It's that they seem to refuse to sell the RX 6400 and GTX 1630 for $150 Canadian or less. My reasoning was, maybe I could build a cheap machine with an F processor and cheap 3D card then upgrade...
I'm just wondering how or why people buy F model CPUs. I mean there's the Ryzen 5 4500 CPU in Canada selling for $110 Canadian but if you look at the Radeon RX 6400 and GeForce GTX 1630 video cards are both above $200 Canadian.
So, what would you go for for a lower cost solution?
I think it should be 9 months so they can work out the bugs. The last time I bought one of my motherboards I had to do a BIOS flash so I could view the video through some video ports.
A relative finally delivered the computer to my mother. So I don't need to buy another one after all. (That relative temporarily lost it when she moved.) Anyway, it has an Intel i5-10400 CPU, WD blue 500GB SS, 16GB Kingston Fury RAM and Corsair CX 450 PSU. It was confirmed by the fact that my...
Well, that's your solution. You mean like when manufacturers make you pay more for memory and storage. Or, solder the SSD directly to the motherboard, or only have one single BIOS version for the motherboard, give you an inferior power supply etc.
Whatever, we're not seeing eye to eye, doesn't...
You can call it overthinking. I've had experiences where I got some surprises. Years ago, Seasonic was known as a good brand but then I read some of their PSUs didn't play well with some Nvidia video cards. I bought a Thermaltake Versa H21 case that didn't even have a spot anywhere in the...
OK, I'm more confused than ever because now they say the i5-14500 is coming soon but then Arrow Lake could launch in 2024 and maybe even Lunar Lake? Whoa, the only thing is, I don't know if I can get motherboards with those CPUs and HDMI, DVI and D-sub connectors on the rear panel. w00t
I want to know one thing. If I want my mother's computer to be compatible with HDMI 2.1, is the 5600G compatible with that or is that more a function of the motherboard?
Well, if motherboard manufacturers can come out with an ITX mobo with HDMI, DVI and D-sub on the rear panel for less than $150 Canadian, that would be great. It almost feels weird to know you can't really buy an ITX case because the mobo choices seem so bleak.
I was looking at the Antec NX416L and wondering if dust would look too obvious on top of it (if I chose the white model). It would be cool to find a micro-ATX model with a slot for an optical drive though. It looks pretty sweet for a case.
OK, that's a cool tip. Does anyone think Intel is taking advantage of their brand like Nvidia by pricing their CPUs higher than AMD? I mean it seems like the prices can really push you in one direction.
Yeah, LGA 1700 is Intel but I meant that is one reason why I think I might shy away from it. There's a chance I'd need to ship it by mail and I read the LGA 1700 can warp the CPUs.
I know it's a paranoid question but because someone lost a computer I wanted to give to my mother I was thinking of getting a 5000 series G model CPU for my mother. Since I know the LGA 1700 socket needs an adapter around the CPU and doing that invalidates the warrantee for the CPU, do I need...
I understand a lot of people got bored of 14nm++++++++++. I was thinking though if you want a more "refined and corrected" version of a CPU, are they going to repeat the Lunar Lake and Panther Lake architectures in the future or is it going to be very different architectures from one generation...
I have a computer with Win10 and 16GB of RAM. I usually watch streaming videos and video chat rooms at the same time but RAM usage gets high often. Is there a browser setting like video buffer I can change to change that?
I know I'm waiting for Win12 for the round corners. But if I'm forced to use an account, I might go Linux because I can't take the risk of being hacked. Seems they don't seem to be thinking about the consequences for users.
Does anyone else think Intel's cycles are becoming just a bit too short? I mean I had a slightly defective motherboard that was only corrected later with a BIOS flash. I ended up thinking I'd need to wait 9 months after a new platform comes out before buying in the first place.
This might be a useless question for some people but I just bought an Intel i5-11400 to replace an i5-10400. Why? There are at least 3 reasons.
First, Intel had already announced the end of support for Comet Lake CPUs.
Second, the super video resolution (whatever it's called again), is...
I made a mistake, it's 5 beeps. Does that mean the CPU?
EDIT: I googled and found it was video not recognized. After searching for how to clear CMOS in the manual I found I had no jumper. Even though I could have grabbed one from another computer, I searched Youtube on how to remove the...
I just installed an old video card to see if it worked then went back to onboard video and all of a sudden there's no video. Any guesses what I have to do?
So assuming this is for desktop, what is the lineage going to be? Raptor Lake refresh (2023), Arrow Lake (2024), Arrow Lake refresh (2025), Lunar Lake (2026)?
This sounds like a funny one but is there a way to click on "set default font" like say if you choose Gadugi size 12 and it reverts automatically sometimes to Calibri size 11. (I mean Wordpad in Win10.)

So it says 22H2 but I'm seeing 21H2 on my machine. When I click on Update I don't see 22H2.
