Cheap no-name one from ebay. It only needs to run long enough to clone the disk onto it.
Do you think I won't have the issue when installed in the laptop?
I have a 2TB Crucial P5 NVMe SSD which I want to image my OS onto and replace my existing smaller NVMe.
I'm using a cheap USB-C enclosure to attach the target SSD to the host machine. However, after abut 20-30 mins copying, the temp of the SSD being written to spikes to >80C and it keeps...
Yeah sadly even if my desk could fit that size the neck straight and focus on peripheral vision issues make it a no-goer.
My laptop is >200 DPI but I think ideal for a desktop monitor with my desk layout is closer to 100 dpi.
I could stretch to 40" and work out a way of mounting secondary...
Yes I've done the ppi calcs. Ideal ppi on Windows at my viewing distance is probably more like 120 but I'll live with the scaling issues for the real estate. I have used a 2013 mac book with more than 200 dpi for years and yes I know macos does scaling much better, whatever the flaws are it's...
Thanks. My issue is that ideal size is probably more like 35" and it seems they smallest they made a few years ago was 40" and now it's even 43", dang :(
But I am rethinking everything. Perhaps the software isn't too hard. And getting rid of bezels would be lovely.
I guess my ideal world would...
Hmmm, I honestly hadn't thought of that...
a) what "new TVs" are you referring to?
b) 1080p is nowhere near enough pixel density
c) as I understand it there are other quality issues with TV vs monitor but perhaps that's not an issue with these TVs?
d) I'm not yet aware of any software that gets...
The thing is I'm basing my budget on the higher end of every single mount I've found that actually has a review for it.
Here in Europe I can't find any Chief branded quad desk mounts available on ebay or Amazon but if you have links or a item name I can have a look.
edit: I just found a US...
Preferably £50-£70.
90% of the ones I've found are £40-£60. I've seen a couple for £150-£200 but they look much weaker than those.
What options are there for "sturdier" ones and where can you buy them?
I have decided on a quad monitor setup (2x2 and in landscape, 24"). I'm looking for a good monitor mount that could ideally could handle 21"-27" for upgradeability in the future (also not mad expensive).
One issue I foresee is that while my desk isn't completely flush against the wall behind it...
Have also tried this http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Solid-St...tem/ta-p/65215
(although instructions are unclear as preliminary blurb refers to connecting only power while numbered points refer to only disconnecting the power)
Tried to cold boot PC after disconnecting my UPS.
Windows couldn't boot.
Turns out SSD (boot drive) is not being recognised by UFEI/BIOS.
Have tried alternative SATA ports, power cables and SATA cables.
Blue LED still comes on inside drive.
Further investigation suggests it's the Sandforce...
This is pretty old news now, but I read a pretty insightful three part article on this over at http://mobilenetworkcomparison.org.uk/reflections-on-microsoft-nokia-part-1/
I was never a big fan of Nokia or Windows Phones, but it is really interesting how things played out over the last couple...
Okay, so what about the other mdX arrays? And getting the whole system back online? Should I reboot or something?
I have no idea how to get services running again and get back into the admin panel...
Thanks for your patience so far, this is what I'm thinking now:
# mdadm --assemble /dev/md9 /dev/sd[abcdef]1 (should I try mdadm --assemble /dev/md9 --verbose instead???)
# mdadm --assemble /dev/md6 /dev/sd[abcdef]2
# mdadm --assemble /dev/md13 /dev/sdareal4,/dev/sd[bcdef]4 (is this the correct...
# mdadm --assemble /dev/md0 /dev/sd[abcdef]3
mdadm: /dev/md0 has been started with 6 drives.
Now I try
mount -o ro /dev/md0 /mnt/sgare/MD0_DATA?
Or do I need to sort the other arrays (md9, md6, md13) first?
More info if it helps what to do next :/
# mdadm --examine --verbose /dev/md0
mdadm: No md superblock detected on /dev/md0.
# mdadm --examine --verbose /dev/sda3
/dev/sda3:
Magic : a92b4efc
Version : 00.90.00
UUID : 22fd322d:10048ef5:8f36ad6a:b0ea696b

Just tried it:
# mdadm --assemble --scan --verbose
mdadm: No arrays found in config file
Also tried this:
# mdadm --assemble /dev/md0 --verbose
mdadm: /dev/md0 not identified in config file.
But --examine clearly shows /dev/md0????
Sorry my bad. There are six drives in there. IIRC, QNAP uses all the drives to make several other RAIDs for firmware and settings. Mine is a RAID-6 over the top of all the drives.
So I can safely just run mdadm --assemble --scan and see what it does?
edit, also got this:
# mdadm --examine...
Also what's the point of "-o ro". The man page says: -o, --readonly mark array as readonly.
It doesn't mention the ro part.
edit - see that's for mount only
omniscience - thanks so much for your response. I'm afraid I need a little more handholding here even after poring over man pages. I've posted my results from mdadm --examine --scan above. Is it safe to just try running mdadm --assemble --scan and then mounting with something like mount -t ext4...
The mount stage comes after assembling with mdadm? Why might they be in the wrong order when the drives haven't moved? Sorry but I'm pretty clueless about this...
The normal mount command would be # mount -t ext4 /dev/md0 /share/MD0_DATA. Is it just a case of adding -o ro to this?
A few days ago my QNAP RAID-6 array randomly stopped responding even though the samba share seemed to be still responding. After about 5-10 minutes of this it randomly rebooted itself and asked me to run a checkdisk (e2fsck) when it loaded back up. I did this and it reported complete after about...
This is correct. I don't know why it can't function with just one but you will need both. When one of my antenna cables inside the case snapped (royal pain in the arse) my range dropped from 30m+ to 30cm using just one high-gain antenna. I suspect that only worked because there was about 8cm of...
So let me check one last thing before I drop another £100.
Will this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-PERC-H200-6gbs-SAS-SATA-8-port-PCI-E-x8-RAID-Card-SAS-2008-IBM-M1015-/360512163226?pt=UK_Computing_ComputerComponents_InterfaceCards&hash=item53f0330d9a) fit in my case and do the job with...
