I'm assuming you've tried making a new user account and going online with that one? If so then the console itself has been banned and I'm sure it's permanent.

Yes the console itself has been banned and Sony npw tells me it's permanent.

You can't up and make a new account if the MAC address is banned. The actual network interface on the PS3 has probably been banned which means he's screwed. Mac addresses are asigned to each network capable device by the FCC.

MAC addresses are an agreed upon industry spec and its controlled by the IEEE.

I had my first PS3 (20 gig) stolen and I called up Sony and gave them the serial of the PS3 and they said they banned it from PSN. So yes you can get banned from PSN.

BTW i want my PS3 back

I did ask sony if I needed to contact anyone to report illegal activity. Sony stated that this particular unit was not used for illegal activities but had violated the terms of service. Im guessing cheating or something
