hi all!
i connect my amp with a 3,5mm to rca cable to my x-fi extreme music. the cable is of better quality with a large connector so the adjacent flexxi jack (digital out, mic, line in all in one port) is blocked
here is a better illustration where the problem lies.....
so i decided to solder a real rca connector onto the x-fi and install it on the back.
i searched the net and found that using the digital connectors for the front pannel is a no go since the digital signal supplied by this connectors needs to be processed for use with other devices ( this processing is done in the front panel thingie in some way).
do i decided to parallel wire it to the felxxi jack
measuring the right solder spots...
silver containing solder...
drilled a pci slot panel and installed the connector
soldered a shielded cable to the connector....
and onto the x-fi
the ground wire is connected to 2 pins since the x-fi needs both closed to be tricked that a 3,5mm jack is connected.
installed in the case...
it works !!!!!!!!!!
imo this adds a lot more function to the x-fi and it's cheap and easy to do.
modded with better op amps and capacitors this card is a winner.
