Which would you choose? Samsung 245BW vs HP 2709m

Surely it doesn't matter what we would choose when you have both monitors? :) IMO, physical dimensions don't matter, resolution does.

    HP ZR2740w - 27" IPS - 2560x1440

You can't compare a high res display to any TV anyway.

Samsung SA850 on PLS 24" - Test and Review (what you have been waiting for)

You do know this is the 24" version, with, you know, that aspect ratio

Samsung SA850 on PLS 24" - Test and Review (what you have been waiting for)

Basically everything I was expecting it to be. A very interesting monitor and an excellent alternative to IPS, only if it wasn't for the terrible backlight bleeding. What a shame, the monitor looks very well built otherwise. Thanks for posting the review.

Price drop for 27 - 30 inch displays

He probably means the new 27" by HP, not Samsung.

    16:10 vs 16:9 - what you prefer?

Both FIFA and PES are like the laziest console ports you'll see. And still, it's possible to configure the camera by yourself so it doesn't make any difference in the end. It's actually a good example why an as wide as possible FOV at the cost of detail isn't always desirable. You're not...

    16:10 vs 16:9 - what you prefer?

Interesting read. No wonder 16:10 feels a lot more natural to work with. That's unbelievable really. Oh hai Hydros

How he has not been banned yet for blatant trolling is beyond me... Do you have a link to that article btw? Thanks.

    ZR2040W - Rare Cheap 20" IPS - 1600x900

Eh? Pixel density is not that high. In fact it's only the large 1080p panels that have bigger pixels than that.

    HP ZR24w

The stock brightness setting is too high and that's what's causing the heat issue. I use mine at 0 brightness personally and still wish it could go lower when I'm using it in a dark room.

Samsung SA850 on PLS - the first review has been published (preproduction unit)

Are you sure it's all backlight bleed and not just PLS glow? Try taking a picture from straight on and from some distance too. A 16:9 27" monitor is very wide, it is always going to have some glow in the corners from closer distance.

    OLED video monitor burn-in notice.

Plasma STILL has those issues though and is still a tech that is unsuitable for computer monitors. That's why I believe there is a real possibility the same will be true for OLED. Although they will get better, burn in will likely always remain a problem. Just look at the AMOLED screens used in...

Samsung SA850 on PLS - the first review has been published (preproduction unit)

Yeah, some pictures and more info would be useful as well. What's wrong with the whites? Isn't the max brightness supposed to be very high on this monitor?

Samsung SA850 on PLS - the first review has been published (preproduction unit)

I believe compensation technology only works for colors, ie it will make whites more uniform but won't fix backlight bleeding. As for why it's not used by all manufacturers, it actually does sound like something that would drive the price up considerably. What I don't get is how come none of...

    New Viewsonic VX2753mh SWEETNESS !!!

Such as? Aside from response time, I can't really think of anything other panel types can't match or aren't better at than TN.
