    HP ZR30w

Ended up buying and returning one of these. Had it connected to a MBP via DP and saw no blinkouts, FWIW. It's not a bad display, but uniformity wasn't as good as any of the ACDs I've seen (which are far from perfect themselves) and the "extra" pixels at the bottom due to the endangered 16:10 AR...

I wasn't referring to only people in this forum. You also failed to answer my question.

So... anyone NOT have the brief blink-out problem? If so, which input are you using? Seems like a bit of a major defect...

    27" ACD vs Dell U2711

They're basically the same panel, with the Dell having a wider gamut since it doesn't use LEDs for backlighting. If you have a MBP then you should give the ACD a try, but I went through 5 or 6 of them and concluded the uniformity is not up to the level of a pro display. For about 100 bucks more...

    Apple 27" LED Cinema Display

Didn't notice glow on the ACD; didn't look for it though. Glow is still much less of an impediment to color work than uniformity problems. I don't particularly want a wide gamut display, but I could manage. Good point about the AG and smaller dot pitch. Even more reason for LG to go easier on...

    Apple 27" LED Cinema Display

My NEC 2690WUXI was certainly acceptable (before its inverter started buzzing) so that's the main reason I'm considering the PA271W. Surprised there hasn't been more discussion of it around here. Really only about $100 more than the ACD assuming you don't pay tax on it, though I am concerned...

    Apple 27" LED Cinema Display

Note of interest for PC users - my Mac cannot control the backlight on this display without its USB cable plugged in, so presumably it is not controlled via DDC. You'd think this could all be handled over DisplayPort but I'm sure it's a basic implementation. Anyway, I've now put four of these...

    Apple 27" LED Cinema Display

Called my local Apple store (Raleigh, NC) and they said they had a display model in, but none to buy yet. Can you say "cherry-picked?" Anyone ordered and gotten theirs yet?

You could also just order from Apple's Education store where it's still a better deal than Amazon at $899 + sales tax. Apple generally won't do in-store swaps unless you've bought it from Apple directly.

Just pulled the trigger on a no review monitor(New Asus Model)

Just bought one of these for my Dad's work setup based on this thread. Only had about 15min to play with it before I had to head home, but my initial impression was that this is a good TN panel. I'm used to IPS (ACD) for reference. Uniformity was good, and the gamma curve out of the box was...

    Apple 27" LED Cinema Display

In the sense that the panels come from LG packaged with and designed for a particular backlight. Dell, Apple, etc. don't add their own backlight.

    Apple 27" LED Cinema Display

I'm sure it's similar, but the backlighting is part of the panel, and since one uses CCFLs and one LEDs, they aren't the same. We'll probably have to wait for it to be released to find out the model # of the panel.

    Apple 27" LED Cinema Display

No. First off, the ACD uses glass; there is no glossy coating. The ACD also has: - LED backlighting - Standard gamut vs. wide gamut on the U2711 - Built-in iSight - Built-in microphone - Built-in speakers (not "good" by any means, but actually usable) - Ambient light sensor - Charger...

    Apple 27" LED Cinema Display

It's not that simple, unfortunately. DVI/HDMI requires more electronics which adds thickness and cost. And the majority wouldn't use those inputs anyway (most PC people will continue to think the ACDs are a complete rip-off, and most Mac users with older machines will be looking to upgrade anyway)

    Apple 27" LED Cinema Display

They don't care if you buy a new card. Their laptops have had mini-DP since late 2008 so they want people with those to get this display. I might be missing something but why wouldn't it work? That card will do 2560x1600 over DP. You will need a Male DP to to Female mini-DP. Why do I...
