3D apps still have yet to take the time to make better AMD specific code. CUDA translation to ROCm is only serviceable, until then.
Redshift is why i can never use amd. i mean 43% of a 4090. Jesus. Maybe in 5 years i guess. If ever

Yeah they just needed the software makers to support their cards better. AMD works really well for photo and video apps, now:

AMD decided not to compete with Nvidia on the upper end/tier - they won't have anything to counter the 5090 - and they are going to gimp their next gen a bit but they claim it will be a bit faster than a 7900 XTX - they'll call it an 8800 XT.I think rumours exist for RDNA 5 timeline (end 2025) & RDNA 4 (H2 2024. As early as jun/july )
No rumours of revision of 7900xt/7900xtx yet. I am just thinking it would be needed to fill the gap till RDNA 5 launches in 2 years
Is that not just for RDNA 4 or RDNA 5 as well ? RDNA 5 release date could be the same 12 months as the 5090.AMD decided not to compete with Nvidia on the upper end/tier - they won't have anything to counter the 5090
Dunno. I don't put much stock in what AMD says or what statements they release. YMMV.Is that not just for RDNA 4 or RDNA 5 as well ? RDNA 5 release date could be the same 12 months as the 5090.
I am not sure if AMD said anything about any of this, but is any of the link say or imply that RDNA 5 will not compete with a 5090 (or what will be high end around that time) ?Dunno. I don't put much stock in what AMD says or what statements they release. YMMV.
What's the 'equivalent' PC/Desktop gpu for the current gen. (gpu) of consoles?I am not sure if AMD said anything about any of this, but is any of the link say or imply that RDNA 5 will not compete with a 5090 (or what will be high end around that time) ?
They seem to say:
It's very likely doing RDNA 5 (or Navi 5 if you prefer) for the next-gen consoles. So, it will be the fully funded effort and it will probably be pretty good.
Significant improvements might be reserved for RDNA 5.
RDNA 5 development as latter shows "exciting early performance projections"
RDNA 2 (6700 xt)What's the 'equivalent' PC/Desktop gpu for the current gen. (gpu) of consoles?
Some more gossipy "news": https://www.pcgamer.com/gpu-leaker-...ghz-remember-when-amd-said-that-about-rnda-3/
Basically a synthesis of a recent MLID video.
But it's actually "hip" to skip.... so maybe there is no 4.It amuses me to no end that RDNA4 hasn't even been revealed to the public by AMD yet and we're already talking about it's successor. Still, it's fun to talk about so I'm not knocking it.
So more bollocks then more then likely.
"Gimp"? To gimp would mean they have a massively more powerful ach but choose to disable it to compete at a lower level.AMD decided not to compete with Nvidia on the upper end/tier - they won't have anything to counter the 5090 - and they are going to gimp their next gen a bit but they claim it will be a bit faster than a 7900 XTX - they'll call it an 8800 XT.
It's poorly named, though it's only an internal naming scheme. It amuses me to no end that RDNA4 hasn't even been revealed to the public by AMD yet and we're already talking about it's successor. Still, it's fun to talk about so I'm not knocking it.
Define refresh in this instance? It's poorly named, though it's only an internal naming scheme.
RDNA4 is precisely two mid-range cards. The confusion comes because RDNA4 is a mid-gen refresh and not a new product stack.
RDNA5 is a full product stack coming in 2025.
Ah, just like the top RDNA1 card was the 5700 XT... (an upper mid-range part)RDNA4 is precisely two mid-range cards. The confusion comes because RDNA4 is a mid-gen refresh and not a new product stack.
It's so nice they had to give it a generation number higher, huh?RDNA5 is a full product stack coming in 2025.

LLVM driver updates seem to back speculation that there are only 2 RDNA 4 chips planned as of nowI think they're planning on high and low versions of both for four cards in the main stack, then APUs for everything lower.

RDNA 5 was originally planned full stack, but it could be limited (high price) above $1200 & full stack at $1000 & below. Of course this is all speculation
clicks. and revenue. its what youtubers do.Why do these guys bother posting videos when they don't have any actual information
It's kind of patheticclicks. and revenue. its what youtubers do.
They also take the longest amount of time to give out the smallest amount of "information".It's kind of pathetic
That guy looks like he's about sixteen years old
They've nothing to say but by God they're going to make sure you listen all the same
I listen to UFD Hot News. IMHO, probably one of the shortest tech news summaries. However, if you all know of something better, I'm always willing to move on to something better.
Correct.... so visit a whole bunch of different sites, many, because you don't know which ones will have have "this or that". But, since you "went there", list the sites you use please. If you don't need to have audio/video then really most run of the mill tech sites will report on the same things, all without being extremely annoying about it. Guys like him do nothing more than regurgitate what tech sites have already covered then add some extra layer of uselessness.

While I like techpowerup, it's not complete. So, still not the silver bullet. So, I'd say use a curator like UFD for fuller coverage... and I like it because I can play it in my ear while doing other things (usually at 1.7 speed).https://www.techpowerup.com/ has just about every rumor you can think of. Even the latest talk about RDNA5 is on there.

Should be way more in time than the next generation ?Just in time for a new console generation
I mean like actually putting dev kits together etc, not shipping. I should've been more specific. I think the lead time between actual release and initial hardware is around 2-3ish years prior to release. Sony and Microsoft without question know about RDNA 5 and are likely headed towards internal prototyping now.Should be way more in time than the next generation ?
PS6 next Xbox could be fall 2028, fall 2027 would be in line with previous generation lifetime of 7 years.
RDNA5 I would be quite surprised if it is later than 2026 (would guess fall 2025), imagine if AMD top end is the 7900xtx in spring of 2027....Blackwell replacement in the pro line could already be old by then.
Rumours are that, since xbox skipped the pro console, they might go first, as early as 2026I mean like actually putting dev kits together etc, not shipping. I should've been more specific. I really do not how how it works but the last time.. I think the lead time between actual release and initial hardware is around 2-3ish years prior to release .. Sony and Microsoft without question know about RDNA 5 and are likely headed towards internal prototyping now.
I am guessing xbox will go first (on TSMC 3nm) zen5c + RDNA 5. One boxed traditional console & one handheld series S style consoleI really do not how how it works but the last time.
RDNA 2 launched (November 18, 2020) almost at the same time has the PS5 (November 12, 2020)
RDNA 4 will launch probably around the same time has the ps5 pro or what they will name it.
Would not surprise me if they go with AMD that PS6-XboxX2 will be on RDNA 6 (which could be just a simple upgrade of RDNA5 so maybe saying almost the same thing), if it is a 2027+ launch.
I like videocardz. They post pretty much every new piece of info, and you can get good context from the comments if you don’t mind wading through a lot of “hot takes.” They don’t do much to help you distinguish between true and bs leaks, but nothing is perfect.Correct.... so visit a whole bunch of different sites, many, because you don't know which ones will have have "this or that".
