Just confirming something that made me go hmmmm.
I have two Thinkpad R40s. One of them died, as in display comes on (backlight) but doesn't post. I ebay another one, move the harddrive, all is fine for a couple months. Now that one doesn't come on either, in this case no display.
Do these things have some known thing on the mainboards that expires after enough time? Known problem? I am just suspicious because they are so close time wise. I removed the HD just to be sure. The only common thing is the PSU but I tried POSTing on battery power.
All the while the T41 I have just soldiers on, as does my year 2000 inspiron.
