DDR5 to DDR4 adapter and DIMM Doubler

Did we go back to the 90s? I remember having some 72-pin to 4x 30-pin adapters. And you could get them in tall or short, right hand or left hand so you could fill 4x 72-pin slots with a total or 16x 30-pin simms from the scrap heap.

woah crazy, I mean I get it there wasn't THAT much difference but why the height of the 5/4 adapter LOL, it only needed to be tall enough to engage the locking tabs and provide another set of tabs... LOTS of wasted space on that PCB.

and is that molex for additional power?

Reminds me of one of my old Dell Workstations that had a pair of these Dimm expanders, had 16x 8GB DDR2 ECC sticks on them.

Probably for the power regulation built-onto DDR5----rather than on the motherboard.
