I'm looking at the Gainward Golden Sample for 185 at buyxtremegear right now. I WANT to get a 6800GT but 400 dollars is alot of money and 300 for the 6800nu doesent seem worth it at all. I currently have a 9500pro at 400/303 and its ok...

Questions:
will my maze4-1 fit on the FX?
I heard the PS2 doesent work to well. Will that make doom3/hl2/stalker/other next gen games look like ass? Perform bad?
Can it even handle current games like farcry at high settings 1280x1024?
Can you flash this to 5950 ultra?
What makes the FX5900XT different from the Ultra?

The 6800 NU is faster than a 5950 ultra or even a 9800 XT, it would be a good value for the money card. I would blow the extra 120 bucks for the 6800 NU rather than getting a 5900 XT right now.

Though I'm not knocking the XT at all, I have a 5900 regular which is about 5% faster than a 5900 XT 700 MHz ram on it vs 850 MHz ram on the 5900, I love my card but it's not as fast of an upgrade as I would have liked it to have been last december so im currently looknig at both the 6800 GT and 6800 Ultra cards.

Why do people keep thinking the 6800nu isn't worth it at all? Its only a little over $100 more then what your getting ready to pay for that 5900XT and its twice as fast as a 5950 or 9800XT which sell for the same price. You should get a descent OC on a 6800nu also. For just $299 there is no reason to be buying a 5900XT unless you just want something that can't keep up with the new cards at all.

the 5900xt is about 30% faster than the 9500pro, it wouldnt be worth it to upgrade to the card, your best bet would to be continue to save and get a 6800gt, then youll be set

As someone who has a 5900XT I have to say that it is a nice card. I know it is not near as fast as a 6800 and if they had come out a few months sooner that is what I would have gotten. But for the money the 5900XT is hard to beat.
It is not 30% faster than the 9500 but maybe it is 30% faster than the 9600XT and that is at stock speeds.
Most of them easily overclock to 5950 speeds or faster. I run mine at 450/780 daily and can bump it up more if I want to. I have ran as high 490/810 and was stable enough to run like 3DMark03 and Aquamark3.
At my CPU speed I am number 4 in Aquamark3 and that is with any graphic cards. The 3 that beat me include 1- 9800 XT and 2- 5900XT. So you can see that the 5900XT is not really that bad of a card for the money.
In 3DMark03 I run right with the 9800pro at my CPU speed at that is at my every day overclock speeds.
Better than some and a little less then some but toward the top levels of the 9800pro. Not to bad for a card that every one says is no good at all.

I agree that if I was going to buy a new card today I would try to get a 6800 instead of a 5900XT. But my point is the 5900XT is a great card for the money and at the time I got mine it was the best bang for the buck that I could find any where. I paid $185 at newegg for it a few months ago.
