Update 9/5: P44 Pro promo is over, pausing updates on this post.

This post tracked sales of SK hynix consumer SSDs for two months: 2023-07-04 to 2023-09-04.
This included the performance-oriented PCIe gen4 SK hynix Platinum P41 and its clone the Solidigm P44 Pro, as well as the exceptionally efficient PCIe gen3 SK hynix Gold P31.

Prices seem to have stabilized around $110 for the 2TB SK hynix P41 Platinum, Solidigm P44 Pro. Check out the price history spoiler for more details.

Snagged three of the Platinum P41s. Getting away from spinning rust for games and will use the HDDs for movies and backups.

Gold P31 promos have ended.

Promos have returned on the Platinum P41: 2TB $108.49, 1TB $55.09.

The Platinum P41 1TB price has dipped quite a bit this time. Still worse $/TB than the 2TB, but the gap has mostly closed.

Edit: Well, that was fast. Platinum P41 promos are gone as of 12PM EST.

Newegg has the 1TB P44 Pro at $55 w/ promo code SSCVA535 (shell shocker).

Pricing on the 2TB P44 Pro has been holding at $110.
 
The prices have come down so much on these SSDs that it's about time to start waiting for the 4TB versions to drop down in price and get those instead.

Since 8/21, some 4TB's are now at or below $200 depending on brand....

My CTO says I can spend ~$2k on storage upgrades for da office rigs, so me buyin a boatload soon, and will bogart a few for myself too !

no kidding, we hit the point where 2TB drives are roughly twice the cost of 1TB drives, but 4TBs are still more than twice the cost of 2TB drives, I'm guessing because higher density chips needed which are costlier or perhaps if they put on both sides of the stick that costs significantly more? But at the end of the day the number of m.2 slots is limiting for some especially with older MBs
