Wish I could help more, but it's been years since I needed/bothered with SMB. Back then I think I had to modify smb.conf settings because the defaults were not compatible with newer flavors of Windows. Might googlefoo about smb.conf sttings and compatibility with your Win version.
I tried Nobara for a little while, but ran into some issues. I went back to vanilla Fedora on both laptop and desktop. I've only ever had one minor upgrade issue which was easily resolved. My laptop was reverting to it's default resolution, but the workaround (till the issue was fixed which...
I don't have Cyberpunk to install, but I mostly use Botles now. I always had some issues with Lutris, probably my own stupidity. I also never had any problems with Heroic Games Launcher for GOG and EA games. I'm on Fedora and use Bottles via Flatpak. Found the following video with Google...
I think samba would be available to anyone on your network that can supply the correct username and password. You could limit samba to certain IPs if you wanted. The shares aren’t Inherently open to the internet, you’d have to open a connection via some other option like vpn tunnel.
For sharing files to windows machines you'll want SAMBA or SMB. Here are some Fedora docs to get you started.

I've posted some on my distro changes over the years in a thread in the Linux sub-forum titles Feeling the itch for a change. I'm still using Fedora and it's been 99% trouble free. There was an update recently that caused issues with non-default screen resolutions that affected my laptop. I...
It could be an issue with the packaging of Bottles? I think I ran into some issues with the version in the Fedora repos, but so far never a problem with the Flatpak version.
I don't notice an issue with Battle.net, mine is 2.24 which appears to be the latest and I don't see any notifications or anything asking me to update again.
I run battle.net and D4 on 2 Fedora machines with Bottles via Flathub, I don't run GE Proton, just changing from Soda to SysWine was the only non default option I chose and Bottles installed the rest.
Played a shadow/ce necro before season, now trying out blood lance with pets (no golem) in s1. So far so smooth at lvl 46. Legendary drops have been way slower which made it hard to find some lance affixes I needed till recently. I'm still far from optimized and still trying some things out...
Titus is okay, I've enjoyed some of his videos in the past. This is just his opinions. Funny that Fedora is the devil but Nobara is amazing for beginners since since Nobara is just Fedora plus some gaming tweaks. I tried Nobara after using Fedora for awhile. I ran into issues with Nobara...
This is my first Diablo as I came from more of an EQ background than arpg’s. I like exploring and doing all the side quests. I changed to tier 2 around lvl 15 or so As I started learning to play a bit more. I was less than half way through the 2nd main area and level 40 or so when I looked...
Sounds like you are using Gnome? Go to your hotkey options and look up screenshot. You want your default print screen option set to "Take a screenshot interactively" I think. For this laptop it's called my Launch key.
Never seen that happen. Which screenshot program are you using? Pretty much only remember just hitting print screen button to launch the capture program, defining the area to capture, and capturing it. Has worked over any app I ever wanted to capture.
D4 - First time playing this series. I tried POE briefly some years ago but always had some performance issues and I was still on old MMORPG grind otherwise my first real foray into ARPG. I haven't played much of anything the last two years and I'm definitely more into solo play now than MMO...
i haven’t played WoW in forever or any other Blizzard title but wanted to try Diablo 4. I used Bottles which has an auto installer for Battle.net and only changed it from Soda to default Wine. It installed Battle.net no problem and used the app to install Diablo 4. So for so good running...
It is named "root" and it's home directory is /root as a normal users home directory is /home/"user". If you want to login to a graphical UI with root you'll likely have to do some editing to files to make that possible, and it is not recommended from a security standpoint.
From the Debian Installation Guide
6.3.2. Setting Up Users And Passwords
Just before configuring the clock, the installer will allow you to set up the “root” account and/or an account for the first user. Other user accounts can be created after the installation has been completed.
6.3.2.1. Set...
I used Debian before Fedora and only switched because I bought a new system with hardware newer than Debian supported and I didn't want to go through doing the work on drivers and such. All that's in my other thread. Debian is great if you just want plain, simple, less updating unless for...
It’s not just the expense, but you just get more mileage on a card now. How many people ar even playing at 4K? What’s the drive for 8K? I think most are still playing at 1080p or 2K and upgrading isn’t needed so much.
I went from GTX 960 to 6700XT last year and probably will stay there for 5...
After you install it you can create a desktop link by hitting the menu next to the play button and selecting Add Desktop Entry. In the 2nd pic you can see it pinned to my dash.
I'm on Fedora and use Flatpak. I have Bottles installed via Flatpak. If you've never used Flatpaks I also recommend installing Flatseal simplify managing access control to your Flatpak apps. Bottles is a front end to simplify using Wine. I also use it to play some old games.
Just to test...
Dell D600 laptop with a Pentium M 1.2ish cpu and 1 gb ram. Has an old 32 bit Linux install and hooked up to some even older Cambridge Audio speakers. It’s used to play audio and videos while working out. Fires up fast if you use sleep mode instead of powering off and on.
Sleep works fine, better than Windows for me actually. In Win 11 I had issues with my bluetooth mouse, or maybe it was all of bluetooth I never tested beyond mouse. Coming out of sleep the mouse sometimes would just stop working for like 15 seconds every minute or so until I rebooted it.
In...
Just a little update FWIW. Still using Fedora and still enjoying it. I've had pretty much zero problems with it. Finding well documented help for Fedora has been good so far. I just added a couple common Gnome tweaks like minimize/maximize buttons etc to make it more to my liking. All my...
I'm old and don't really enjoy reading a phone screen of any size any more than I have too so if I'm going to read very much I'll pull out the Ipad, laptop, or PC. That said, I voted 14 Pro.
I use them in my living room and not on PC, but I like my SVS Prime Wireless Pros and SB2000 sub if your budget is $1800 or so.

Can go more or less expensive on the sub choice...
4 Orbi's is a ton of coverage. I've got 3400sq/ft on 2 stories and 2 is really enough. With 3 I have to put them as far apart as possible in the house and I get signal around 5 acres outside. Someone will be getting a solid deal.
They weren’t top 3 largest banks, but were #16. They tied up investments long at low rates and had to sell them at a loss for short term needs, duration mismatch. That worked okay in a falling interest rate world, but that ended last year. Most uninsured deposits will get made whole...
Mine are pretty well covered here. Ultima series of C64 in the 80s, X Wing mid 90s (most of the early to mid 90s were my college years so parties and chasing girls were more important than gaming). Late 90s after I settled down began my modern era and kicked off with Tribes (my Nick is from...
