No one is buying intel.
Lina Khan ain't allowing M&A these days...and even if she allowed it then the EU and UK would have to sign off.
How long did Microsoft and Activision take? The Adobe figma deal died because it couldn't get through.
I need some help getting pointed in the right direction...
We have a remote farm that we want to mount a couple of cameras. One camera as a sort of area shot the other more directly at the ground. When it looks stormy, then be able to watch or pull up archived footage to look for hail.
The...
I can echo this...
When I got my house back in 2009, I ran a ton of cat5e all over the house. Every room has multiple cat5e drops because I don't trust wifi. About a year ago, built a nas and did iSCSI over 10gbe for the gaming computers to store the games. I thought 'well, either my cat5e...
I too have a couple of 5950xs. I think one is better, but it seems when I actually put the screws to them they are about the same.
Both are under water with PBO enabled and a custom set core offset. With some time (mainly at night when you sleep) running core cycler you can get each core...
my grandfather would be 99 this year...he died in 2008 from dementia.
He bought an apple II when they came out and played the helicopter game with the two paddles. It wasn't a powerful enough machine, so he quickly got an at&t 6300 (I think) and got MS flight sim and monopoly. His favorite...
I'm not surprised. That said, I still only buy physical media.
I have a 120in screen and a projector with an atmos system in the basement with an oppo 4K player that made getting a GPU during the apocalypse look easy. Streamed content is wonky...especially in the black parts of a picture...
I use pirate ship to figure out shipping....sometimes a regular box is cheaper than a flat rate box.
I've seen where cardboard packed over the cpu socket has been used when there isn't the guard. Maybe you could go back/call and ask microcenter if they have any spare guards.
That is gross...
So my 5950x is like 75% of a 14900k, I should be able to get 250k.
a 5950x is just two 5800x put together...so now we are down to 125k.
I have an fx4300...maybe I can recreate White Bluffs, Washington
So you're like me...want one but don't really have a purpose.
Heck, that is why I have a 5950x. A 5800x would be just find....I can only spend money so fast on Amazon.
Hp reverb g2 with a 5950x and 3090, although thinking about downgrading to a 3080.
Only game has been flight sim, although want to try and get minecraft java figured out.
Not sure what else is worthwhile.
I get mine at our local True Value hardware. They have a whole of aisle of fasteners. We also have a place here called Tacoma Screw.
And yes, put a nut on before you cut to essentially rethread the screw. When you cut it, it messed up the entry point and you'll always cross thread. The...
No experience with the newer platforms but as of right now, my favorite mobos are gigabyte.
A few months ago I had to rma an asus z590 and b550.
msi used to be my favorite...but I had an x299 die on me.
Only have one asrock...seems fine. The bios seems kinda wonky to me, but I'm used to...
I've been running a 32in 1440p display at both home and work for about 18mo. I just sat down to my old display, a 32in 1080p and was amazed at how much grainier it was.
I've been thinking about getting a 32in 4k display at home...how much would that annoy me at work with "only" 1440p?
I run an msi b450 a pro max with a 3600x, 32gb ram and rx 570 for a minecraft server running ubuntu. This morning I shut it down to install a 3080. When I started back up the monitor went on and the cursor blinked and then stopped. The VGA debug light just stays on. Swapped back to the...
Yeah, that.
Seems a bit pointless until we actually have devices catch up with even PCIe gen4 and then the mobos are going to have to do a better job at divvying out PCIe lanes.
I have a avermedia capture card. It runs PCIe gen 2 x4. Their best run card looks to run at Gen3 x4...
I have an idea...granted, I don't know much about QSFP, so not sure how good of an idea this is...
It looks like you can get either a intel 810 series NIC or a mellanox connectx 5 ex series nic. Now they say they are 100Gbps cards. Sooo, they run at PCIe 4.0 x16. You're not after that much...
Yup...hotter.
This was a question on my 1995 IB physics exam and I answered it as the temp would stay the same. Still not sure how it was graded because efficiency wasn't mentioned in the question. It has only been bugging me for nearly 30 years.
That is the same problem as every other board.
you put the GPU in slot #1 and it runs at x16. Then, you skip slot #2 and put the card in slot #3 which is x16 long, so the card will fit, but it only has the pins for x4, so it runs x4....not the x8 that is being requested.
This dumb pci-e...
Well, in my house I have several samsung drives, several WD drives, a few silicon power drives and then one by sk hynix. All but the sk hynix I bought.
The silicon powers, I actually have three; one that failed and had to be RMAed within a few months. RMA was kinda weird because it isn't...
I know I cant be the only one that keeps an old machine around to test new configurations and concepts so I can reinstall a new OS without screwing anything up.
What does everyone use to test stuff?
I have an fx-8350 with 16gb of ram with a mobo that actually has an nvme slot. Gpu is either...
I'd echo this..for me to sell one would just be a PITA. Not only that, they are a dime a dozen these days.
That said, I really like this one. It is both USB A and USB C.
If it were me, I'd get the 2x16GB and get 3600mhz ram. Then write down all my timings from the 3000mhz kit. Put the 3600mhz in and manually input all the timings from the 3000 kit in.
OR
Just roll with the 32.
I'm not sure I'd worry much about mismatched ram. there are videos out there...
Those are 3060tis and 3070s...don't worry too much if they've been mined on. They were probably undervolted to keep power consumption low and the gddr6 on the 3060ti/3070 kept cool as compared to the gddr6 on the 3080 and above.
I use a mined on card...I did the mining, but it is fine.
