Due to a spilled Dr. Pepper I am in need of a new (used) motherboard.
Don't really care too much about generation, but would not be very enthusiastic about an A320...
As ever, budget is a huge consideration, just need it cheap, so if you got a B350 collecting dust let me know.
So, I got gifted a couple of i7-2600k cpus from a local e-waste recycler friend, but the mobos on both looked pretty terrible (bulging caps on one, and some mystery burns/stains on the other).
I think these could be decent upgrades to my both my kids PCs (they're both sporting Athlon II X4...
As title states, looking for a new home for a i5 4690k.
Current mobo has a dead RAM and PCIE slot, so looking for cheap replacement.
Trying to spend $50 or less shipped.

Many thanks
So today I happened upon an Alienware Area51 7500-R4 in impeccable condition. It was less the GPUs and RAM and HDD, but everything else was there, including the cpu liquid cooling. It does appear to have an after market PSU, but I haven't removed it to confirm. The case itself (which is the main...
So, I was upgrading a friend's computer; he had an old iBuypower machine with an fx 4100 and an HD 7750 (awful) and 8 GB of 1033mHz RAM. This thing couldn't even spell firestrike, let alone run it (it wouldn't even run the Heaven Extreme benchmark without crashing)
I was able to get him a new...
So I was given an old computer, it has an Athlon 64 3000+ CPU, Asus K8N8XLA mobo, 512mb of ddr ram, and a Geforce FX 5200 AGP graphics card.
I did a little digging around and I guess the 5200 is pretty much straight garbage.
Could I turn this into a decent XP gaming rig? 2 gb of DDR is 5 bucks...
My son goes off to college (or trade school) next year [sniff] and I think he'll probably need a laptop. I have a Compaq presario CQ60-417dx that I've had for nearly a decade (I got it as basically a throwaway comp to take to Iraq).
Anyway, I've been noodling around on the googles most of the...
Hello [H]ard,
I'm giving some very basic education on cyber security to some middle schoolers soon, and I wanted to show them how easy it is to take advantage of BT on their phones.
I wanted to have an old laptop running some kind of bluetooth survey app that would show them all the info...
So, I have and Sapphire Vapor-X HD 7950 that I'd like to give as a gift.
I'm planning to pull it apart, blow out all the dust, and reapply t-paste and t-pads to the VRMs.
My question is what thickness of pad should I go with? 1mm? 1.5mm? more?
I have no idea (and really am not sure how I can...
Just wondering if anyone else has picked up any good deals on used video cards since these two releases?
I've scored an RX 580 Red Devil golden sample (for my rig) and an R9 290x Tri-X 8GB (for the boy) for a combined total that's a LOT less than the original MSRP of the rx580.
Just seems like...
