Nvidia will release a 5090
It is hoped that top RDNA 4 would be equal to (or just short of 4080).
I expect the top RDNA 4 to just beat the raster of 7900 xt & match or better RT of 7900 xtx
The rumour says that all RDNA 4 cards would be gddr6. That makes sense as these are meant to compete...
It should be good & smaller
Nobody knows the price. But we can take a guess
There will be 2 chips
Smaller one (navi 44) = 4060 ti = $300 (or less)
The bigger one (navi 48) should be double the smaller one. That should make it in the range of 7900 xt / 4070 ti super (priced around $550 give...
Yes, this is what I was saying. Margins are still positive but dangerously low.
Clearly AMD has unsold inventory.
Can Lisa Su convince share holders of the need to reduce margins further to clear the inventory ?
(Coming back to topic)
The suspicion is Intel has binned more aggressively here. Board partners are now increasing voltage & decreasing current. (This can impact all-core boost/top frequencies, effectively converting the chip to a lesser version down the stack)
Shift Up uses the story mainly as a means to an end so it can bring Eve to beautiful new locations and have her square off against a murderer’s row of memorable bosses. This tradeoff tends to work more than it misses because Stellar Blade has spectacular art direction. It runs beautifully in...
I am glad the margins are the same, given that there was a brutal 50% year on year reduction in gaming revenue
I understand microsoft has stopped xbox chip purchases temporarily (until whenever the 6nm refresh launches I guess)
Sony also could have slowed until PS5 pro launches
That said I...
Also console sales are down (probably because new refreshes are due: 6nm discless xbox & PS5 pro)
Decision time for Radeon & Lisa Su
Do they hold tight to precious margins or price the GPUs to move 🤔
Gaming revenue, on the other hand, declined sequentially by 32.6 percent and 47.5 percent year-over-year to $922 million, due to lower demand for PC GPUs. AMD’s CFO, Jean Hu, said the company doesn’t expect the situation to improve this year.
“Based on the visibility we have, the first half […]...
Lisa Su: Data Center GPU Sales To Hit $4B, Teases Future Chips
With AMD looking to challenge Nvidia’s dominance in the AI computing space, Su said expanded customer engagements with the company’s Instinct MI300 accelerator chips prompted it to upgrade its 2024 data center GPU revenue forecast...
No 7700 xt is a cut down Navi 32
All rumours point to navi 48 & navi 44 being monolithic
AMD had power issues with MCM chips when gaming. I am thinking that is why they will go monolithic with RDNA 4
New offer
The ASRock Challenger model of the Radeon RX 7700 XT is now available for $379.99

Intel has a wafer-level assembly problem, and it's hurting Core Ultra sales
Customers are hot for Intel's Core Ultra products
THE BIG PICTURE: Customers are clamoring for Intel's Core Ultra CPUs, but the chipmaker is facing a bottleneck in wafer-level assembly at the back end. It's a...
It seems very likely that an Xbox gaming handheld or maybe even a Microsoft surface gaming handheld could launch within the next five years.
What you need to know
Microsoft emailed out a seven-minute survey that asks questions about gaming handhelds.
The survey asks questions such as — what...

Recently it has been reported that some motherboard manufacturers are actually changing the PL1/PL2/Tau strategy, and putting the Tau value to something reasonable, like 30 seconds or so. When users are running benchmarks in those motherboards, the results they are seeing are...
Based on this Anandtech article
PL1 = sustained average TDP
PL2 = turbo tdp
Tau = duration for which the CPU can stay in PL2 (turbo TDP)
Above 3 are independent from temperature limit which is determined by cooler capacity. Hence if you have a super duper cooler then the motherboard...
Igor says PL4 (absolute maximum ) is the reason for chip damage

From Anandtech:
We have been communicating with Intel for most of the day to get official answers to what's happening. To that end, we have received an official statement from Intel, which reads as follows:
The recently publicized communications between Intel and its motherboard partners...
Xbox hardware sales have dropped by 50% from 2 years ago.
But overall the gaming division is still doing well
Microsoft's total gaming revenue for the latest reported quarter was up 51 percent, thanks in large part to the "net impact from the Activision Blizzard acquisition." Even before that...
Following the implementation of the Intel baseline profile, a performance drop of up to nearly 30% can be observed in power-intensive multi-threaded workloads. Cinebench R23 is a benchmark where the multi-core score drops from 40,021 to 28,811 points. Lightly threaded workloads are largely...
Historically except for RDNA 2, AMD didn't fill out the stack in a single gen, but rather used a mixture of multiple gens to fill the gap.
Looks like going forward we may not see a RDNA 2 like situation again (& there will be gaps within a single gen of AMD models)
Nothing in that news report to justify the headline. MSI didn't say that the reason was underperforming AMD GPUs ?
(If MSI can sell underperforming MSI Claw, then they can definitely sell AMD GPUs, imo)
Atleast wait till computex in June, to see future plans of nvidia & AMD
AMD would launch zen 5 in June, but they might also tease RDNA 4 & timeline of the same
Answering your question, German trends indicate that AMD sales have started to fall
They have no other go but to reduce price (or launch RDNA 4, if navi 32 stocks are about to be sold out)
Maybe this is off-topic
There was a question by a mormon user: why are American cartoons not aesthetic (attractive for kids) compared to say Japanese.
So this game is by a South Korean studio & developed with an East Asian aesthetic.

According to HKEPC, a 144-page document featuring specifications of AMD Ryzen CPUs based on Strix Point and Strix Halo series has been leaked.
AMD is currently scheduled to deliver a keynote at Computex, possibly involving updates to Zen5 for desktops and mobile series. Hopefully, this will...
Apparently there is a leak
Strix Point will continue to use a single-chip design, but the CPU core will be the current highest 8-core Zen 4 , 16 threads will be increased to 12 core Zen 5 and 24 threads. At the same time, the GPU will also be increased from 12 RDNA 3.1 CU units to 16 RDNA 3.5...

RDNA 4 to use memory slower than 7800 xt
Worth noting that
1. 7900 GRE (probably intended for latops originally) launched with memory slower than 7800 xt
2. AMD had to unlock memory overclocking on 7900 gre to release significantly more performance...
