I acutally just redid the intel build and it happening there too. Ive updated the post. so if anyone on intel or AMD can try it that would be great. the only thing I didnt swap was memory. have a new set coming today. Id really hate to swap the 3090. I had a spare 1080ti and it happens with that...
Hi guys,
I did a new AMD build with the 5950x and using Vray RTX Benchmark, it cripples my video card at certain times. Scores drop about 40%. It also happened on an Intel 12900k build. Ive swapped the video card (both EVGA), cpu (2 intels, 2 amd), mobo, power supply and still happens. Can...
Go with AMD for rendering. The heat in the 12900 can be in issue. Amd will be in the 60-70s and intel will be on the 80-90s. Also depending on your renderer, AMD is faster like in vray.
I run a d15 with both fans in a 12900 in a torrent compact case with the 2 180mm fans for intake. On a hot day with vray rendering it peaks at about 95c.
Options are to either under volt or just limit the power to 190w. Or use a renderer that’s gpu based. That’s what I ended up doing. Gpu is...
Hi, can someone quickly check if its possible to change the Long Duration Package Power Limit on Asus B660 boards or is it greyed and only reserved for the z690s? Its under Ai Tweaker > Internal CPU Power Management > Long Duration Package Power Limit. trying to get an order in before the cut...
I didnt install any mobo control software. it was a fresh windows install with drivers from microsoft and donwload the chipset drivers myself from Asus.
I tried all you suggestions but no go.
ok so i dont know what to make of this. Using GPU-Z, i can see that when the RTX benchmark score is...
ok, so the got the vray bench score back to normal but only if i wait 1 mintue after getting too the desktop. If i try it the moment i hit the desktop after a reboot, then the scores are half of what they should be. very odd. My intel build didnt have this phenomenon. I wonder whats still...
yeah its in the top slot clostest to the cpu. it was a clean windows install since the mobo and cpu changed. fresh install on everything. the cpu and mobo was brand new for this transplant.
Hi, I just transplanted my 3090 from an Intel 12900 build to a Ryzen 5950x build and for some reason my Vray benchmark scores for Cuda and RTX testas are litterally half of what they used to be. The CPU test, the Ryzen scoried higher. But the GPU only tests, the 3090 is now half the speed. Would...
Yeah. I have 2x 140mm Noctua fans arriving for the front. Then I’ll add a 120 Noctua in the rear. Would I connect the front fans to the chassis fan header or cpu fan header on the mobo since they directly hit the cpu?
Are there any solid ITX and cooler combos that can keep a i9-12000 in the 80c's under load? Not just CPU-z stress test but Cinebench too as I will be doing a lot of rendering. I just built a NR2000P and realize it just cant do it without mutilating a Noctua D15 cooler and even then its so so...
This was my last build on here 5 years ago.

Here is my PCpartpicker list. Final components arrive tomorrow. I want to get the next Ncase design but for now Im going with...
Im doing a ITX build and wondered what would I be missing in terms of speed going with the b660 chip set versus the z690. Im using a i9-12900 (non-K) so no plans of overclocking. My main concern is that my RTX 3090 is unrestricted and the both M.2 SSDs 980 Pro's have no speed reductions due to...
has anyone else striped the threads for the screw holes for the PCI slot as well as the back plate the goes on top of the PCI slot? both of mine stripped, the screws are fine, and wondered if anyone knows of a larger self tapering screw that might work. sizes or links would be helpful. Thanks
Hi guys,
I recently tested 3 different pairs of Noctua fans in the two bottom chasis spots to see how they affect cooling the video card. The fans I tested where:
NF-S12A
NF-F12
NF-A12
I tested both intake and exhaust. The only one that did better with exhaust was the NF-F12 since its purely...
i think the y-cables were getting pinched to much and losing part of the connection. i took the fans out and straightened the cables and fired it up and they worked. so i just replaced the cables.
I was in the middle of fan comparison for the bottom chassis fans and something odd has happened. I wondered if any has encountered this before. I was first trying intake flow. fans worked fine, was detected in the bios. then i flipped them around for exhaust flow, results were not as good so I...
I didnt find it futile. I hadn't seen it done and was curious and not a single person knew of the issue getting a GELID cable through he heat sink. Guess I'm 2 Hard.
I found the K not worth it and overclocking not worth it in general and went with a non-K and not even for the cost. Mainly to avoid all that extra heat, its nearly double the TDP and the fact that most games do not use 100% cpu usage and on average you get about a 10 percent gain which is not...
I got the shroud and fans off without taking the heat sink off to see if the bottom Noctua chassis fan could keep the card with the stock heatsink cool enough but the temps couldn't hold. after about 2 minutes in Heaven, it began to slowly exceed previous temps with the shroud. But considering...
well I did it. got the shroud and fans off without taking the heat sink off but the temps couldn't hold. after about 2 minutes in Heaven, it began to slowly exceed previous temps with the shroud. But considering the Noctua fans were maxed out at 1300 rpms connected to the chassis header, where...
hmm, im not sure if that one in the back is part of mounting the shroud to the heat sink as I dont see it attached to a clip on the heat sink. it might be just part of the shroud itself? I would like to remove this one screw to see how far it gets me. I think I need like really extremely short...
many of us here have 2 x 120mm fans at the bottom blowing onto the video card. I have read that it would be better to remove the stock shroud and fans from the video card, in my cases a EVGA 1080 ti SC2. the problem I am having is finding a guide on how to do this as most guides show how to...
because when you remove any kind of heat sink, you have to remove the old thermal paste and re-apply it. that would take longer then removing one screw
Hi there
I was told it would be better to remove the shroud and stock fans from my EVGA card since I have two 120mm Noctua fans right below it already. Question is, how do I just remove the shroud? The online guides I found show removing the entire heat sink and not just the shroud. I tried to...
