my original v2 400 has a constant hissing noise from the satellites now. Was working great for 22 years until now.
is this usually a capacitor problem?
I removed the amp, and I think I see a slightly bulging 47uf 50v cap, but I'm too uninformed to know if this is what might be causing the issue.
i got a z690 mobo for $160 after rebates (and i already cashed the rebate. shit on rebates if you want)
got the 12600k for $250 from bestbuy pricematch
is that not cheaper price/performance than AMD?
where does the cpu draw its power though?
If i run a 12600k at max load, it could exceed 204w, but does it then pull extra power from the other rail then?
I have an old Earthwatts 380 which was built by seasonic. Has dual 12v rails at 17A.
specs say one 12v powers motherboard and peripherals, the other 12v powers cpu.
but with it all plugged in, do both 12v rails power the cpu still?
i mean how many amps are available to the cpu?
wow
Microcenter dropped the prices further.
12600k $230
12700k $300
how low can these go?
12600k for $199 soon????
good thing my credit card has price protection. Get the difference refunded
I've noticed that when I saturate the builtin realtek gigabit ethernet on my asus laptop with multithreaded downloads, or try to max out my internet connection, occasionally the modem will crash, requiring hard reboot of modem.
when using several different computers with Intel gigE, I haven't...
i had Bestbuy pricematch MC.
building another budget 12600k system with an Asrock z690, 120mm enermax cooler, 16gb gskill ripjaws ddr4.
$250+$160+$20 +50= $480+tax after rebates.
and then free win7>>win10>>win11 upgrade. Whole system under $500+tax.
at these prices, I don't feel like waiting...
wroooong. you say that with such confidence.
hey sir jerk knowitall, stop adding nonsense shit to this thread.
Here's driver SF running on Windows 11 on my laptop
blows your theory out of the water eh? Windows 11 is fine.
were you testing with integrated graphics?
i was testing integrated graphics only.
maybe it's my MSI mobo, or ssd, or the cracked version of the game I'm running. who knows.
I bought a WD sn750 SE, which has a phison e19t controller.
The controller supports aes, opal 2.0, pyrite.
However, WD does not advertise any encryption capabilities for this drive.
What tools and methods can I use to test if my ssd is hardware encrypted vs software?
Can someone guide me?
I...
clickbait clicker, then how do you explain my getting the exact same crash in the same game in Windows 10 then?
the common culprit is the alder lake cpu.
I have another 11th gen laptop I'll load windows 11 to, and I'll see if it can run.
while i was shopping and trying out new pc's recently, I tested this game on all recent non-alder lake systems, and it worked on Windows 10.
5700g 5600g 11400 11700 amd intel all worked.
If you set compatibility to Windows 7, it will run.
There's something actually wrong with alder lake and...
hot dammit.
if it didn't cost $20 in gas to drive to microcenter, I would be all over this.
I paid an early adopter tax on my 12600k system. Though I did get a partial refund for the price drop from newegg.
Came out to similar cost if you factor in the time and gas.
Lucky for anyone near a...
Don't toss that old pc.
https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2021/11/faulty-drm-breaks-dozens-of-games-on-intels-alder-lake-cpus/
i had one of those games, Star wars fallen order, and the game wouldn't even load with the 12600k, even with all efficiency cores disabled.
Task manager showed that the...
the enermax t40 air cooler i got has a janky 1700 adapter. But I tightened everything up and appears to be working fine.
12600k stock, most cores max out in the 60's, with 2 cores maxing out mid 70s under cinebench stress test.
The heatsink just barely covers the cpu heatspreader though.
i've been using the 12600k for over a week, and this thing looks pretty efficient.
looking at task manager, under normal usage, the pcores barely get any activity.
I made the mistake of storing some old hard drives near a closed container of diluted tca acid.
I later discovered the acid destroyed the seal and the acid evaporated, some of it wafting by the hard drives.
Both hard drives are dead. They were working before this incident.
Should've sealed the...
I hope MSI enables this on all their boards.
currently the board will not allow disabling all e cores; at least one ecore must be enabled.
it sounds like avx512 can safely be enabled, and since rocket lake had avx512, I don't see why intel would make such a bigass fuss about it
I'm using a 20 year old AMD athlon64 stock cooler simply resting on my 12600k for now while I wait for my tower fan and 1700 adapter.
held on just by cheap thermal paste.
cinebench runs up the temps to 90+, but under normal use, it runs just fine under 50c
12 year old OCZ 600w psu runs it...
let's be real. you're not gonna game on either chip.
i went with intel this time because it is more future proof.
if AMD included navi, i woulda bought amd.
i wish intel coulda put a beefier gpu into this chip like the upcoming H chips.
yeah i'm not gonna run my cpu at full load yet.
just need to test if all the components work, as i wait for the stupid heatsink bracket.
Enermax says next week, but who knows, with supply chain issues and shipping delays
crap. Enermax doesn't have any stock on the 1700 adapter until next week at the earliest for the T40 fan i bought
they only have the T50 adapter.
fortunately i can use the heatsink temporarily without clamping it down, and it will still cool sufficiently.
just ordered an enermax hsf.
put in a request for 1700 conversion. Let's see how fast they ship.
enermax office is local in socal.
all my other parts are coming midweek
$220 https://www.microcenter.com/product/642649/msi-z690-a-pro-ddr4-intel-lga-1700-atx-motherboard
$130 https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Z590-ProSeries-Motherboard-Socket/dp/B08WC9JSV8
they're pretty much identical. come on man
