So, I have a 2x 8tb WD Reds in my synology box. Only using about 4tb.
I happen to pick up a few more 8tb reds when they were on sale. You guys think I should keep them around in case some drives fail? ie, will the 8tb drives still be good in 5yrs? Lol, we might go to a different storage format...
Anyone still building mining rigs? I made a small profit, but just sold one of my rigs. Got 2 7x gpu rigs left. Does not seem very profitable at the moment. Got the itch to rebuild a 3rd rig with 1080ti
So, guys keep in mind that the miners may still have viruses...
For example, downloading the EWBF miner from the megaupload or google drive files sets off windows defender. I was very wary about it using those miners. Instead I downloaded the EWBF file from github via the nanopool repository...
^ exactly 15 cards. 10x 1070 and 5x 1060
just d/l nicehash to run on one of the rigs as an experiment. we'll see what that amounts to. I tried to d/l EWBF's zcash miner, but windows 10 stopped me from d/l'ing it. said it was a virus. I know other people say it's ok, but it doesn't sit well with...
I have 2 small rigs composed of 1070 and 1060 hashing ETH at about 450MH/s. I was getting close to 4 ETH/month, now it's about 2.6 ETH/month. really not worth it, but looking for a better alternative
what are you guys mining with the 1080ti's? zcash?
how much power draw when at 60% tdp?
are the evga 1080ti black edition ok or do I need to get the SC version?
thanks
yea, that's my next step. too low fan speed. right now it's at 50% speed. The best o/c seems to be my evga 1070 FTW cards. I drop them to 50% tdp and o/c memory to +640. works great. stable too.
eBay has 10% eBay bucks. was looking at picking up from 1080ti. now sure it's worth it though. the...
I have 7 cards in one and 8 in the 2nd rig. Each one draws about 750watts and the other about 850w. 1/2 and 1/2 mix of 1070 and 1060. All with their tdp between 50% and 60%.
1070 gets 30-31MH/s
1060 gets 23-25 MH/s depending on memory type.
This is for ETH mining. You can see the 1060 is the...
question for the 1080ti miners.
is it worth it? I have two rigs with a mix of 1070 and 1060 that are pulling in close to 500MH/s mining ETH.
what are you guys mining with the 1080ti's?
i decided to stick with only 2 mining rigs and these are extras. Brand new never opened.
I have 1 of them left. $390 each on eBay. I can do $360 + shipping for members here.
Here's the eBay link for the last one

^ well I bit the bullet and bought one. It seems my 1070/1060 rigs are working fine. Now to dabble in something new. Are you guys using the 1080ti for zcash?
^ what about using it to mine ETH at 37 MH/s? What's the power draw there?
For example my 1070 gets 31MH/s and uses only 100w at 50% tdp. I have memory o/c by +600.
sorry, to bump this thread back up.
but, can we discuss the profitability of the 1080ti vs 1070?
I've got a mix of 1070 x8 doing about 240MH/s (31MH/s each) mining ETH another rig of 8x 1060 getting ~200MH/s (25MH/s each).
now that the prices of the 1070 are above $400, I need to look at...
I have a couple of 1060's with Samsung memory, baseline w/o o/c I get 18MH/s using ethminer. after +900 memory o/c with afterburner, I get about 24-25 MH/s. Overall very happy.
My reported hash rates on ethermine pool website fluctuates so much, all the way from 20MH/s to 50 MH/s. However, on the ethminer console (cmd) it's pretty steady at 31-32 MH/s.
I have to say the evga ftw gaming card is pretty good. I was able to drop tdp to 50%, memory +680, and core -40. Total power draw at the outlet was 150w, so figure the 30w for the system, that brings single 1070 getting 32MH/s at 120w. Not bad.
I couldn't replicate that with the evga sc black...
^ agreed. I prefer to keep the costs to a minimum.
I looked into the rc1 branch also. now, it just has an "ethminer.exe" file. compared to genoil's where there are multiple files. so does this use the same batch file? which pool are you running?
so, I used the following batch file.
setx...
claymore seems good. I'll give that a shot this weekend. I read that excavator (nicehash) is efficient.
is claymore easy to setup? Do the devs still take a 1% fee?
so, it's not for lack of reading, but which miner is best for the 1070?
I'm getting about 31MH/s with genoil's program. Pretty easy to setup. Use "geth" to create a new account. Plug the address that was generated in to genoil's ethminer and voila. it's working.
Now, I can't for the life of...
ugh!
Think I just made a mistake. Had 2x EVGA 1070 SC black ed on order from amazon.
I canceled it b/c I snagged 2x EVGA FTW Gaming versions for the same price. I was looking for ones with a higher chance of getting Samsung memory. Now, I find out that the FTW draws more power and it's likely...
So is one card better than another? Just started mining and my evga 1070 sc black ed gets 31 MH/s with small o/c
I have an Asus Strix OC on the way. Wonder if it's any better or should I just stick with evga?
Lol!
Guess 86% efficiency is good enough. Would have been nice to get > 90%. For that I would need to go platinum but none of the psu come in the low wattage
so, I built my own NAS and with 2x 8tb WD REDS and an i5-7600 power draw is under 30w idle. Currently there's a 600w SFX PSU in the fractal 304 case. Obviously overkill, but the SFX PSU was taken from another system.
Now, I search and search, but I cannot find an efficient PSU for my NAS...
