Most SSDs are internally SLC/TLC or SLC/QLC (the SLC being used for a write cache). So why not allow the SSD to be formatted as 100% SLC? Should be a simple matter of firmware, yes?
Is there any way to bypass keyboard errors? I don't care that the PS/2 ports don't work, but it's preventing the system from booting. I can't enter the BIOS settings to disable the error (assuming that such an option exists).
So far my only idea is to modify the BIOS, but that's challenging...
Anyone using this as PC monitor? Price is <$320 everywhere. $300 at Microcenter. It has 120Hz flicker, is that a dealbreaker? Otherwise seems fine judging by rtings review.
For a long time Intel chipsets have had integrated ethernet (only needing an external "PHY", not a complete ethernet chip), yet it's very common for motherboard makers to use a PCIe ethernet chip, usually by Realtek. Does this really save money? If so it can't be very much! I mean, an ethernet...

The AMD graphics are always outputting the display's maximum reported resolution (which happens not to be the native
resolution...it's a projector, not a PC monitor) regardless of the system resolution setting. The software resolution is correct...
SATA power cables shouldn't include 3.3v. Nothing uses it, so it just makes the cable bulkier. But even worse, the SATA power spec has changed (as of 2016) - one of the pins previously spec'ed for 3.3v has been repurposed for non-power use. As a result, some (non-retail) SATA drives WILL NOT...
The exact display output capabilities of nvidia cards are quite mysterious. Zero documentation beyond "use the plugs that fit".
Example: did you know that the DVI ports are also full fledged HDMI 2.0 ports? 4K, audio, everything.
What about the DP ports? Are they plain DP, or DP++? Etc.
Just curious...I ran the memtest86 rowhammer test on two near-identical machines with Crucial DDR3 modules (2x8GB non-ECC), one with memory made in 2012 and the other made in 2016. The 2016 memory passed; the 2012 memory failed.
(It's possible that other rowhammer tests could give a different...
I noticed that the Gigabyte 1050/1050ti G1 cards uniquely have 3 HDMI outputs (in addition to 1 DP/1 DL-DVI). Does the 1050 support 3 HDMIs natively or are they using an onboard DP->HDMI converter or what? All the other 1050 cards just have 1 HDMI/1 DP/1 DL-DVI. Is there any limitation to the...
