You can use Widows Firewall and an IPSec policy to limit the servers access to just the DC's it needs for authentication then allow it outbound access to the internet.
Years ago I had an Android phone that I flashed a ROM on that reset the IMEI to all 0's. There was no way to change it and the only solution was to send it back to the manufacturer to reflash.
Maybe the seller had the same issue and flashed the stock firmware back on?
Wow, I'd have to imagine that there is a huge jump in quality when you are 'upgrading' every 7 years. What do you expect the quality improvement to be like when you purchase your next hearing aid in a couple of years?
Google isn't going to make any universal windows apps. They already make a win32 app that runs on every windows system on the planet. Why would they also write for Win10 which is only 100m users? Chrome runs on 1.5 billion desktops. Google doesn't need Microsoft at all. Their entire business...
That's a good point but the continued R & D and production runs still costs them well over a billion dollar per year run rate. At some point Wall Street will demand they cut their losses entirely.
All of the apps are missing and the ones in the WP store are old, outdated, missing new features, or have been abandoned by the developer. Then there is the piece of garbage knock off 3rd party apps that MS either paid for and are abandoned or are from random devs. Even the 1st party apps aren't...
I did this same thing but with Moto G and E's. I wanted the small device size to use as Sonos controllers and to operate the lights and thermostat.
My phone works fine but it is in one room of th ehouse and I frequently want to turn on or change the music in the kitchen or bathroom and my phone...
When BD came out discs were $35 - $45 a piece in the first year. Sure, they will eventually get cheaper when demand picks up but I seriously doubt the general public will adopt 4K BD. It just doesn't offer and sizable advantage over existing BD or streaming content. So it may stay a niche market...
Who cares? They allow you to watch the content that you have rented or purchased which is exactly what they are supposed to do.
And with a HTPC you wont be seeing anything in 4K on it. The Netflix/Amazon apps don't stream 4K to a PC, there wont be 4K BD on it, and there isn't any cable content...
The USB 3.0 ports should be backward compatible with 2.0, if the drive is detected and is booting to the install then this means it is working.
However, the corrupt image is a possibility as I had this happen a few times. Usually it would try to install and get to 3% then bluescreen.
I'll take the opposite side - purchased my N6 2 months ago to use with my Project Fi invite. Got rid of the N6 last week and moved back to Verizon. The N6 is just too big and the camera is not good at all.
Maybe it is Netflix asking it to be removed as they no longer support it and do not want the support calls from MCE users who try to use it and it doesn't work.
I loved my HTPC back in the day when there really wasn't any streaming content and everything was recorded TV and movies/TV ripped on my NAS. A HTPC made perfect sense then when it wasn't very difficult to get it working properly.
Today recorded TV and playing ripped movies from local sources...
