Fuck off. I'm trying to figure this shit out. Go troll a different thread.
Oh shit. you've been here since 2000. You must have slayed many newbs with your smartass attitude.
Good job.
***Okay after digging around, the current ram in the server is 2GB Kingston ram (Kingston 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM ECC Unbuffered DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Server Memory Model KVR667D2E5K2/2G)
Soooo
I'm on the hunt for non-Registered, unbuffered memory (2gb x 4, ddr2 memory)
Thank you, please let me know.
I don't have use for more than 4 but I guess I could maybe find somebody that would need it? It seems that FB-DIMM's are plenty but regular 240-pin DIMM's are a bit harder to find.
Hello, I'm helping a friend upgrade his home lab server and we are looking for the following memory.

Well it looks like my offer for a E3-1280 was accepted so I'll be using the intel board.
Comparing both, seems the E3-1280 will have a lower typical power consumption compared to my i7-870 Asus setup.

I actually haven't through about much about passthrough at this time.
My plans for the hypervisor is:

Hey everyone, I have a few i5 series desktops in my home that I acquired from a local college. I was selling off a bunch of them but turned one into a gaming pc a few months ago and now I want to convert it into a proxmox/hypervisor node.
The units I have are fairly current and have either of...
Thank you for all that Allenpan.
As per your recommendation, I purchased 32gb of corsair memory and just received it today. The motherboard accepted it and the system booted up just fine.
I have an i7 870 waiting to get installed and waiting for the delivery of my quad NIC.
Thanks for the help
Thank you for that.
With the CPU, it's identified that it will run 16GB Max, so just curious...what do they base that limit on and how can you run 32GB? Has the system been stable with the memory?
I'm planning on using it at a server for proxmox
Thanks for the reply.
The card that I used was an experiment that I am quite pleased with. Netac 64gb. class 10, UHS3 card.

Hey guys, I'd like to have my networking gear and a server or two in my basement but I'm having difficulty with device placement because of heat conditions in the furnace room.

Hello, I'm looking to find a good condition N40L or N54L without drives.
I live in Canada but have a PO box in Port Huron MI that the server can be shipped to.
If anybody is parting ways and wants to sell off their unit, let me know. Always wanted to experiment with this little box.
Thank you
Sorry, as I'm not a n00b with computers, I am a n00b regarding data and servers haha
So I'll do my best.

Good morning everyone,
I am on my old HP EX490 media server doing some much needed maintenance of the files on it and I've come across something quite disturbing to me.

Hey guys, I've been experiencing some really odd issues on my home network that tend to bring it down to a crawl for a few minutes then traffic gets relieved.

Hey guys,
I am looking at doing some read/write tests on a few SSD drive's this week. Rather then hooking them up to my desktop, I was wondering if I could do the tests using my x220?
My x220 has a usb 2.0 port and I do have a USB to Sata cable.
I am guessing that my limit is the usb...

I've also been looking for a quad NIC.

Hey guys,
I am trying to be a bit more creative with my home network and build up on some knowledge as my current workplace does not challenge me at all.

Its not that old and I'd still think it's usefull.
I have upgraded from a E8400 core2duo cpu to a i5-750.
It's not the latest and greatest, but it's great for those on a budget.
Hello, it's me again.
I've been a bit confused on how to hookup the front I/O USB 3.0 connector.
It's the blue, 20pin cable. Would that attach to my motherboard? I've never seen a connector like that on a motherboard.
