Need 16x-8x configuration at same time. Are there any consumer boards?

One of the primary reasons for x16/x8 and similar configurations have been multi-GPU setups. You will notice that the transition to only a primary x16 slot and little else happened around the same time multi-GPU setups went by the wayside. Gamers aren't demanding multiple x16 slots anymore and...

    Very [HOT] 7900X3D $330 @ Antonline

Agreed, the 7800X3D and 7700X Microcenter deals are the way to go for a pure gaming build if you can get to one. I would argue the 7700X is better ($100 cheaper) unless you're playing a lot of sim and RTS games. High resolution FPS and RPGs aren't going to benefit much from the vcache. For...

I'm basically limited to the ASRock B650-E PG Riptide or MSI B650-P on the budget side due to my need of an electrical X4 slot. Slim pickings at Microcenter for those.

    Very [HOT] 7900X3D $330 @ Antonline

Yeah, I priced it out and with my motherboard of choice the 7800X3D bundle was about $50 less expensive than this 7900X3D with the same board from Newegg (Microcenter board price was about $60 more expensive, eating a lot of the savings). I'll just go forward with the 7900X3D and Newegg motherboard.

Frys was great before they changed their sales model. Loved the different themes the stores had. I remember getting in line early for doorbuster sales, snagged some really cheap DDR3 RAM. Being able to see the motherboards displayed in person was nice too.

I'll have to wait until end of year for the Santa Clara center to open or make an 8 hour drive each way. Good to know on being able to choose the motherboard though, I need one with an electrical PCI-E X4 slot and very few B650 boards have that.

FTC fines Razer for every cent made selling bogus “N95 grade” RGB masks

To me they lost all credibility when they pushed Synapse 2.0 account requirements. It was frustrating getting Windows to not automatically update Synapse to 2.0 (this was pushed through Windows driver updates). At least Logitech and Steelseries don't constantly nag you to login by default.

    Very [HOT] 7900X3D $330 @ Antonline

The current price is great and its new MSRP of $400 is decent. It's for the budget workstation that wants to game- it's not that much more than a 7900X at MSRP. This is a better value for me than the 7800X3D as I don't play games that can use 6 X3D cores yet need all the single core performance...

    Very [HOT] 7900X3D $330 @ Antonline

At this price I'm willing to test the waters with the inconvenience. Given that the most CPU intensive games I play are indie sim games like Oxygen Not Included, I don't see myself saturating 4 v-cache cores, let alone 6 or 8. If I find the performance unsatisfactory I could probably trade/sell...

Super Flower 1200W Platinum PSU (with 3 120mm fans bundled): $144.99 @ Newegg

10 year PSU warranties have been around since at least 2011, so they're nothing new. It's practically standard for high quality PSUs.

That's pretty awesome. The Monsta radiators are stupidly thick. So thick that despite the low fin density, they don't scale well with fan speed until you hit 1800+ RPM as I recall. That said, they do kick butt at low fan speeds, provided you can fit them in. Would have to get a new case for...

As much as I would hate subscribing to another service, at least this one is free. I can totally see them using it to try to spring paid membership on people later. Great price, unfortunately physically too big for my needs.

It depends on the block design and to a lesser extent radiator design. The micro-pin array with top nozzle generally used in CPU blocks almost always benefit from proper flow direction. GPU blocks are generally not affected by flow direction, and GPU blocks generally have connections such that...

9950X and 9950X3D is going to be terrific.

Ha, I'm going to be jumping from an E5-1680V2 (8-core Ivy Bridge-E). Currently thinking about waiting for Microcenter deals once they open in Santa Clara. Definitely going for a vcache model as I play a lot of sim games.

    EK in hot water again?

Kinda amusing how EK's version of damage control is to delete threads on their subreddit that talk about GN's video. Certainly not a good look when they're trying to shut down the discussion rather than respond to it. Definitely lends merit to the theory that EK is trying to silence anyone that...

Is there a gaming mice that is not garbage ?

I liked the G700 also for its ergonomics. I ended up getting one of those kits on Ebay that allowed for 5 minute swaps of the switches if needed. Not too long after that I ended up discarding it in favor of the SteelSeries Rival 650- the laser sensor was just way too picky about what surfaces it...

Microcenter is coming back to the Bay Area!!!

The bundled board has two secondary physical x16 slots but both are electrically X1. It seems like only ASRock puts an electrical X4 slot in the budget boards.

Microcenter is coming back to the Bay Area!!!

Saw this news as well. Been itching to do a new build as my E5-1680 V2 definitely can't keep up, especially with my recently acquired RTX 3080ti. Not enthused by the combo options available though. Looking at the 7800X3D and none of the motherboards offered in the combo has a PCI-E x4 slot- need...

FSP Hydro Ti Pro 1000 Watt PSU mini-review - was Trying to Decide on a New Power Supply. I've narrowed down to 3.

I would stick to a 1000w PSU given your system specs. You honestly don't need it unless you plan to go Intel or Threadripper. Unless of course you manage to find an equal quality 1200w PSU for the same price as the 1000w units you're looking at. At the price range you're looking at, $25...

Triple Monitor setup. How to switch to single monitor mode (or maybe even dual) and use triple only when i need it.

That doesn't sound right. You should physically rearrange the monitors/monitor connections such that when you hit identify, the monitors should display 2-1-3 or 3-1-2. After that, you rearrange the monitors in the Windows display setting so that it matches what is identified. Edit: The reason...

Rearrange the monitor physical location in display settings. You can drag the monitors around to match the setup.

This only works for monitors connected by DisplayPort. Other connections are interpreted as always active regardless of whether or not the monitor is on. The motherboard being used only has VGA, DVI, and HDMI connections. @OP try using the Project function in Windows. You should be able to...

Is it true that 7950X3D suffers from stutter on games?

Indeed the difference is small. As small as the performance benefits that more cores provide in the games that do use them when comparing the 7800X3D to 7950X3D. Basically, the same argument for more cores providing the best performance can also be applied to restricting to only 1 CCD. Some...

Is it true that 7950X3D suffers from stutter on games?

Techspot's/Hardware Unboxed's review tells a different story. In their review, Cyberpunk 2077, Plague Tale: Requiem and Watch Dogs: Legion all performed worse on the dual CCD CPUs as compared to single CCD (including non-X3D parts). That's 25% of the games they tested, though admittedly a small...

Rant: Samsung 6.1 Galaxy Store now pushing ads

That worked, thanks. I could have sworn notification categories was on for my phone as I did mess with them before. 6.1 probably turned it off by default or one of the esim swaps reset that. Still scummy and absurd either way.

Had my S23 Ultra since release, bought because Best Buy was offering good trade-in deals for an S9 and I needed to upgrade. Need 16x-8x configuration at same time. Are there any consumer boards?

Eh, that's what X58 and X79 were (AMD didn't really compete back then). Intel and AMD either decided that the market was too small or they could make more money forcing enthusiasts into true workstation platforms if they wanted the additional capability. The prosumer motherboards that existed...

Need 16x-8x configuration at same time. Are there any consumer boards?

They knew exactly what they were doing- separating the market between consumer and workstation. This started with LGA2011 when dual-CPU models couldn't be overclocked unlike the LGA1366 dual-CPU brethren. X79 could do it. 990FX could do it. When multi-GPU setups fell out of favor and PCI-E...

There is significant reddit activity on Process Lasso helping minimums in certain games with the 5900X in 2023. Is it true that 7950X3D suffers from stutter on games?

Unique case, but also says you don't need two vcache CCDs. One vcache ccd for gaming and one regular CCD to take care of background tasks is sufficient. I'm also assuming you have hardware acceleration for Skype disabled as that will shift the load from GPU to CPU.
