Current set up is HTPC (AM3, 8GB, SSD, Radeon 4550, Win7 / WMC) with a Samsung 47" using HDMI. Audio is a Logitech 5.1 that I've had for-just-about-ever - 3.5mm plugs from sound card. Pretty happy with the overall set up - everything works and... well it works.
What I'm really missing is...
After all these years, back in the top 70 for the team and in a month, I'm gonna lose three spots... :(
Nicolas_orleans (in a bout week and a half)
WOLF_TEAM_LEADER and LastLegion passing me by in 3.5 weeks before I over take someone in a month.
Well... at least I have an order of magnitude...
For you embeded folks, thought I would share the latest project from the minds at Crystalfontz. Disclaimer: I work at Crystalfontz ;) --
Okay -- the nuts and bolts is we were developing a system for use in-house using knowledge gained from a previous project. We needed a SOC that had tons...
Regardless of the browser I use at work, there are no ads on either the main site or the forums. At home, we're good to go. We do have Squid running on the main server filtering / tracking content. So yes, visiting the [H] is fine ;) Just odd the ads are blocked - most ads come through with out...
Looking at upgrading my current monitor set up to something larger. These 45 yo eyes like things bigger. I've found a number of 27" to 28" monitors that are in my price range that have the 1920 x 1200 resolution I'm looking for. Some have VGA and HDMI, but no DVI input.
I've always used DVI...
These e6850's are functional pulls from machines that were upgraded. These are just sitting around, and need a good home. From what I understand the e6850's OC pretty well.
Each comes with a stock cooler from a QuadCore and they work fine with these CPUs.
ALL THREE SOLD
The "stuff from...
After finding an eVGA 8800GT "superclocked" in-stock, buying it, installing it, I read countless horror stories in here about over heating, fires, death of the neighbor's puppies, driver issues, artifacting, noise, lack of performanace, and so on I was a bit worried.
The card got here days...
Been a while since I posted one of my LANs, but since this one is a bit different I thought I would spread the word. Our December event, SMo-g v6.0 on December 29 through the 30th is not only our 6th anniversary for SpokLAN.net -- we are setting aside all the proceeds for the the family of...
It's been a long time coming, it's been in Beta since... well, a long time. They have added a lot of new vehicles, weapons, and maps, maps, maps.

Okay, this has me stumped...
I have a Celestia A2210 dual s940 1U server. The motherboard is an AMD Serenade, rev 3.02 is the best I could do for a model. The manual is very light on this system - tells more how to take it apart than put it together.
I got the server as a barebones, just...
I've played with several CMSs over the years off and on, Mambo, phpNuke, phpFusion, Drupal, and some other flavors of Nuke. I liked Mambo, but it had a few issues, so I started working with Joomla and so far I'm pretty impressed.
I converted my forums from phpbb to SMF first - one, I was...
Okay, been doing my reading, research, comparison, etc and I think that I have a good idea of which way to go. Here's a summary of the system

After reading the sticky, faq's, more reading and research I settled on and ordered the SeaSonic S12 Energy Plus SS-550HT from NewEgg on Monday and should be here either tomorrow or Thursday. My older Antec TruControl 550w has taken one too many hits from a faulty surge suppressor (that seemes...
Why do I think the release of BF2142 is wonderful?
All the stat whore smacktards are nolonger showing up on the ranked BF2 server I run! The gaming has been fanstastic since it came out... it's fantastic with peeps actually playing the game rather than worrying about 'points' and 'stats'...
Okay, I've been having some annoying system issues as of late - data loss, BSOD, not wanting to boot.. you know, the annoying stuff. Before we get into what all has transpired, here's the system specs:
CPU - AMD A64 3400+ (venice core, OEM chip)
Mobo - ASRock 939 Dual SATA2
RAM - 4 x 512 MB...
If you need a break from "win win win" BF2 and stat-tards, then this is the mod for you. It's done by the Sir.Community - they started doing stunts with BF'42, and are now doing mods and movies with BF2.
They were at v0.4, and after lots of updates, v0.8 is out. It's more stable, and yes, if...
My wife and I are getting a nice upgrade for our oldest daughter's HS graduation (along with other stuff), and I'd like to get her into something that is a little more "future proof" than a s939.
We've settled on an AM2 A64 3500+ or 3700+ (depends on price), and MSI K9N Platinum nForce 570...
Okay, with some tweaking I loaded up our BF2 server in Co-Op mode with a crap load of Bots set at a fairly high AI (75 out of 100) - and by crapload I mean there are always 32 bots on the server, on a 16 player map - I found it forces to 16 player in Co-Op mode. There were about 12 people in...
Okay, we're a family of gamers. I run a Spokane WA based LAN group, we have 'game night' at the house with freinds, RPG every other friday, and have small LANs at the house. Over the years, the wife has primary played RPGs and SIM type games - rollercoaster tycoon, etc, and puzzle games on her...

Could not get the camera to focus on the...
Since we are a typical Geek family, there is always the trickle down series of upgrades. After I upgraded to a 6800GT, my kids got the 5700ultra. The fan on the GPU died, nothing else - card still worked great still so I called BFG and in order to keep the life time warranty I would have to send...

Alrighty vid card guru's... I have a dilema here. A friend of mine on a tighter budget than myself is doing a vid card upgrade. Currently has a GF4600 128mb (that is about ready to die) and we've narrowed his "upgrade" to either a 9800pro (256mb/256 bit) or a 6600GT (128mb) - both are AGP and...

Having a mortgage, three kids, etc, upgrades are few and far between. I'd been saving up to go A64 / PCI-e down the road and came across the refurb LeadTek 6800GT (AGP) that newegg had for $210. I did some thinking (I had $225 saved and it's taken me a while) more research (hmm, 6800GT is...

Couple weeks ago when my mobo's IDE controller took out my primary drive I was rebuilding the sytem I chanced across my Sid Meier's Alpha Centrauri game CD, so I installed it for "old times sake" and to see how well it would run on my current system (i've gone through a couple CPU's and at least...
