I agree. Loadline calibration is even scarier for most motherboards. The amount of negative vdroop that I've seen with a dmm in the Lynnfield days was nuts.
Yeah I used a 64gb vertex 4 for years as a cache drive for Intel srt for years until the HDD finally failed. According to the smart data the drive is still like new.
I'm looking for $220 shipped for the bare card. I've owned this since it was released. I never really ran it overclocked other than some benchmarks when I first bought the thing. Mined on it for a week in the spring. Still works like new.
Ended up picking up a used 1080ti. After looking into evga's new warranty I have no concerns. It's a much bigger upgrade from my 980ti than I was expecting at 4k.
Also a lot of good rpg and TPS suggestions here.
Alpha protocol is a hidden gem. Like bloodiness it's very flawed, mostly in the fighting mechanics. The writing is top notch though. I love obsidian.
On the obsidian note fallout new Vegas is great. Still not a great shooter though. Everything...
I liked rage. I was put off due to the people who expected the world. It was the first game released by id in like a decade by that point. There was no living up to the hype.
I found the texture pop in noticable but game breaking when I first played it well after launch. Then I switched to an...

Personally my main issue was when looking for silence. I was able to run my fdb and sleeve bearing fans at a higher speed without noticing. Which is/was my 24/7 fan speed anyway.
GTs make an odd noise that drives me mad.
I've had some yates that I used for years. Yes there were different versions. There was a thread on xtremesystems years ago covering who was selling what.
I have a very. very old scythe s-flex in my system right now. I paid significantly less than I...
I'm just hoping that we don't have the video card version of bulldozer here. With how long they've been hyping up this card while staying so tight lipped I'm not getting my hopes up. At this point the ti has been out for 5 months and gtx 1080 for well over a year.
Volta probably isn't even that...
To be fair a monitor will likely outlast your video card. I'm using a 120hz catleap right now. I've used several video cards to drive this monitor. My current GTX980ti cost me over $700.
There is also a large difference between 2560x1440 and 3440x1440.
I do wish that I hadn't paid 1k for my...
I haven't gotten the chance to try out a vive. I'm curious about IQ between the two. I know that they use different style lenses and from what I hear the vive doesn't suffer from the godrays which I find by far the most annoying thing about my rift. White text on a black background looks...
As always it depends on the game resolution, and refresh rate. I have a 980ti and my 4770k and probably memory are my bottleneck in FO4. 90% of the time even with a 1080ti I'm sure that my cpu wouldn't be a bottleneck on my 3440x1440 display. On my occulus rift I'm sure that would be a different...
Oh, if we're going to mention video cards. I have had some good luck there.
My GTX 280 was a beast. Next to my current gpu that may be the one that lasted me the longest. The thing hit just over 720mhz iirc. It was something like a 20% overclock. I ran it like that all of the time.
I used 7950...
At 1920x1200? I've played with a lot of 3d vision titles. I've never known 3d vision be be more demanding on vram. Gpu, cpu,, and memory bandwith in that order definitely. But vram, I would need to see some proof on that claim. I'm sorry. VR even has more features that should ease up on that...
The first cpu that I ever bothered overclocking was an e8400. Later picked up a q9950, i7 860, i5 750, i5 760, i5 2500k, i5 2600k, i5 3570k, i5 3770k, i7 4770k. Not a one worth bragging about. Not a one that I would say runs 24/7 stable at the clocks some people claim are the norm. All of them...
I'm surprised that oculus offered up good money for this game. I didn't get any roomscale warnings for it which is why I put off superhot. Superhot ended up playing fine in my small play space. This game not so much. You need to actively quickly dodge and need some good space to do so. At least...
Its amd, they won't change shit until they get raked over the coals for it. Look at crossfire microstutter.....
I never saw a lower priority game with issues being addressed.
Hell, I'll never forget the gsod issue. How big did the thread need to get on this forum and Kyle asking questions...
This is very true. These days it all depends on the game. Most won't really be your cpu unless your running high refresh rates or maybe some vr titles.
The only time that I saw a real bottleneck was when I thought that it would be a good idea to break out my core2 duo rig to test an original...
I'm in the same boat. I'm running a 3440x1440 monitor with a 980ti and don't have the urge to upgrade. I would imagine that a single 1080ti would put me right where I want to be.
I'm with you there. I went from 780ti sli to a single 980ti and couldn't be happier. Things seem to have gotten far worse since. DX12 isn't helping things.
If anything read up on sli scaling with the games that you play. Then decide if it's worth it for you.
