Upgrade my 1080 GTX - What recommendation?

One big reason is that 1920 monitor have been called 2K for a very long time before 1440p came out, second big reason what is the link between the number 2000 and 2560-1440p, neither number are particularly close to 2000 ? Why call it a 2000 monitor ?

A range of near 4000 horizontal pixel are called 4k because they are close (from 4096 × 2160, 3996 × 2160, 3840 × 2160, etc...) to it, 2048 × 1080, 1920 x 1080, 1998 × 1080 are called 2k because they close to 2000, for what possible reason 2560x1440 would use the 2000 moniker to be described ? Specially in a conversation you want the reader to be clear if is 1080p or 1440p because it is a big difference if you're chasing 360hz.

2560x1440p is not going to be that hard to max out. It's the 360hz. I'd probably just go for a 4090 or wait for the 5090 to come out if you want to get close to max frame rates on that monitor.

Also your 4090/5090 will be hard capped by your system so I don't know if you'll be able to reach the max potential of your new gpu.
