Alpine 2.20 on Raspbian

Anyone here have experience with the aforementioned? I installed alpine and have set up with SSL, TLS, and all variants thereof, with ports 465 and 587 for outgoing mail, but no ability to actually SEND mail from the CLI-based prog. I am not finding anything online about my issue-invalid host specifier. I am using the gmail domain. I get the invalid host specified message in alpine whether I designate smtp.gmail.com OR imap.gmail.com.
I have run through settings on gmail, and to no avail.

I imagine it is something simple-as it often is with me, but still, I am at a loss. Anybody have thoughts on this?

35 views and no replies. I am sure that what I did was very stupid. Wrong port config or selection of TLS/SSL-I just dont know but I have run every conceivable configuration and combination thereof. #Confused
