What Mouse and Keyboard Are You Using Right Now?

WASD v2 TKL (Cherry Browns + o-rings) and a Zowie EC2-A. The WASD is good, but honestly $175 was a pretty bad price for what it delivers. The Zowie is pretty much the perfect mouse as far as I'm concerned, with exception of a slightly vague-feeling scroll wheel (but it's optical under the hood and is plenty reliable).

I've really wondered about mechs that go far past the $100 mark when I've gotten ones far less than that with better 'feel' than more expensive ones. It's like you should be getting more the more you pay, but that's not the case anymore.

I wouldn't say the typical $100 stuff is better (unless you like gamer bling / RGB / macros which I don't), the WASD just isn't really better either. They're all solidly built and very nice to type on. The o-rings hurt the feel a little bit compared to run-of-the-mill stuff, but browns + o-rings still aren't exactly quiet as it is. PBT keycaps would be very nice as a higher-end feature, but they're absent here.

Yeah there's a lot where that's what the premium price is all about, but there's others that are just supposed to be a 'better' keyboard than another and I can't feel it. I'm a model M user from the first time I ever started typing, so maybe that's part of it...

G.skill RIPJAWS KM780 RGB and Logitech G600 on the main system
Microsoft Sidewinder X6 and the Logitech Performance MX on my home server

Razer BlackWidow X Chroma as my keyboard and Razer Lancehead tournament edition as my mouse.

Logitech G910
Logitech G502 with mouse wheel swapped out with one from a G900. No more heavy and clunky mouse wheel with no grip.

G502 Hero, incredibly accurate.
Love the rolly mouse wheel, its better than the G500.

Unicomp Classic Trackball with Dvorak layout, for gaming I switch to a cheapo blue switch Geezer brand or black switch Drevo Tyrfing (setting up key layout for Dvorak in every game is a PITA).
Logitech G305 mouse, turns out that a wireless mouse can be really awesome! Love it.

I'm late chiming in here but I've been meaning to reply to this as I am in full agreement with you. There's nothing wrong with the WASD boards per se...they are solid from everything I've read. They're just priced too high for what they are, IMO. As you noted, you can get boards of similar quality for less money. And to not use PBT keycaps at a $175 price point is almost laughable. I've seen them for as little as $140 and they're a better buy at that price, but still wouldn't be my first choice with so many other options available (some of which use PBT caps in their stock configuration).

Agreed. The last few generations of Logitech wireless mice have been awesome. After years of trying wireless mice and being disappointed in their accuracy/latency, I'm convinced that they finally have the tech figured out.

Oooo...would love to see a pic of that beauty. :)

It's a bit of an odd config, but the trackball is more useful than it looks- there's another set of buttons on the top edge, right where my fingers rest when my thumb is on the trackball. Also, the smaller button works as a sort of 'hold button' for the one next to it, so you don't have to keep the button pressed while scrolling, or dragging something. It's a nice addition, and obviously it's great if I don't have a working mouse for whatever reason.
Keyboard itself is obviously pretty nice, I don't know why Unicomp isn't a bigger name with the mechanical keyboard people (maybe it's just r/mechanicalkeyboards on reddit, they have a fetish for tiny keyboards and odd layouts with lots of layers).
Only real downside is that it's pretty huge, but it's also like having shelf space for me to put my pens, swiss army knife, chapstick, phone, car keys, small books, etc.

Corsair K70 keyboard (Cherry MX red switches), and a Corsair M45 mouse.

Logitech G9X at work with a Das Pro 4.
Corsair Glaive at home with my nearly 10 year old Logitec G15.

I loved that mouse. Turns out that double clicking problem is common enough there are threads about how to fix it out there. I sourced the microswitch from digikey or mouser and just soldered a new one it and it works great again.

Then i lent that mouse to a friend and haven't seen it since.. hmm.

I didn't chuck the old one in the trash yet, I might try that.

Quite nice! I like that you have the older 104 layout that had the same size atl and ctrl as the 101 layout. Interesting how you find the trackball super useful as I know for most people's layouts it would be a bit odd. Back in the day when we first discovered this design (back in the IBM days) we wanted to see if there was a way to retrofit the trackball to our existing ibm 101, but I don't think we ever found it to be possible or feasible.

I think it's the buckling springs that make Unicomp a lesser known name. These days most mechanical keyboards are oriented towards gaming, which usually means linear switches, many of them with a shortened travel. That's definitely not the buckling spring. But for a true typing experience, one can't beat the buckling spring, or as an investment--our $100 'Options by IBM' keyboard that we bought for our Cyrix p166+ build back in the day could probably be sold for more than what we originally paid for it.

Anyone have experience with the Corsair M65? Considering it over my current G502 since it looks like the thumb button is in a better position. The one on my G502 is all but useless to me since I have to reposition my hand to use it.

Addicted to the Logitech G700S. Love the 4 side buttons. Even bought one used as a backup since it is not available new anymore. Keyboard : Logitech G413 refurb. Compact. Light only on the letter not the whole keycap!

For the mouse it's a Logitech G700s I picked up when my MX1000 finally stopped having a responsive middle click (pretty important for cad work.) Keyboard is also Logitech, G710+ I picked up for like $65 or something when best Buy was having a sale, I really enjoy typing on this. As a bonus comment I'm also still using my Ratpadz XT I got in 2007.

Be aware the middle button under the wheel may have reliability problems.
My Corsair Scimitars middle button died suddenly after just over 2 years (just out of warranty) which is why I am now on a G502 Hero.
It works if pressed extremely hard but that will damage the wheel eventually and has probably harmed the button further.
fyi the middle button is not a lever switch, it is a very small button. I'm not sure it can be disassembled without damage.

I used one for almost 2 years before it got crushed while on a business trip. I thought it was a pretty good mouse. Mine was white with a hard plastic body. I can't stand the rubbery coating that's on so many mice now.

Just picked up a Microsoft Desktop 900 wireless keyboard and a Logitech Performance MX mouse.

One personal opinion, out of everything on the racks at Microcenter that was NOT mechanical, the Desktop 900, Designer and Sculpt were IMHO by far the best keyboards.

Corsair K95 RGB Platinum Cherry MX Speed, Corsair M65 Pro RGB FPS, decided to go all Corsair so I can use iCue to run everything.
It's been a year and I am still happy with it, no reason to change anytime soon.

What’s the RGB version? I have a black “SSK” version. Topre’s are nice. Still have my IBM SSK though

It just RGB lighting under the keys, and you can cycle through various preset colors. There’s apparently software that might(?) let you customize colors but I really don’t use the RGB feature at all.

I"ve given in and recently gotten one of the Logitech Orion Spark KBs and paring it with a Logitech G502 mouse. Though I wish I never would have given up my RAT7 MMO. Was my favorite mouse of all time, and built like a tank.

Bah. My G700s is starting to show some signs of age. The old issue of the left click not always "holding" the click is starting to happen. That was the beginning for the end for my last one.
Most of their wireless mice only have 2 thumb buttons and the G602 is too cluttered. Anyone know if there are any new Logitech wireless mice on the horizon?
If not - anyone have a recommendation for something similar to the G700s? I need either 3 or 4 thumb buttons. No more, no less. That's basically my only requirement.

still rocking my Filco (mx reds / dampers / vortex pbt double shot key caps) and a Steelseries Sensei 310.. love this combo perfect for me..
