Are they though? I remember a golden age of games with no microtransactions, no season passes, no loot boxes, no cash grabs of any kind. And the games were actually complete and bug free on release. On top of that, games included the tools used to build them. With Half-Life you got the Hammer...
I'm about 8 hours in. Very addicting so far. I'm getting major Nier Automata vibes, especially the music.
Game is very polished except maybe the platforming. I've died quite a few times to some clunky platforming.
Combat is great. Might be a tad easy for some. I somehow managed to beat the...
I have the B650E Taichi Lite: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B650E%20Taichi%20Lite/Specification.asp#Download
Thunderbolt controller is from June 2023
I don't know if I care enough to install a newer driver from a 3rd party site. I don't even use Thunderbolt.
Solved! It was the thunderbolt driver. Uninstalling it fixed the issue.
Huge shout out to this gigachad who discovered the solution: https://steamcommunity.com/app/381210/discussions/0/3952532649323378129/
Man... I'd be screwed if I hadn't found that post.
But like... That wouldn't show up anywhere else? I've been using this PC since Christmas. Surely a memory fault would've crashed my other games by now? Especially more graphically intense games like Cyberpunk and Alan Wake 2.
I also just tried another EAC game (Fall Guys) and that one works fine.
Update: It appears to be EAC causing my system to crash. I disabled EAC and it's no longer crashing!
However... That's not really a good long term solution if I want to play multiplayer.
I found this thread describing the same issue...
I'm trying Elden Ring out on my new PC and it's crashing my whole entire system. Game runs fine for a few minutes and then the frame rate drops to 3 (literally 3), audio becomes choppy, my whole system is lagging like crazy, then my computer reboots. Happens even if I'm just sitting on the title...
Demo is quite nice. It's way harder than I thought. I thought it would be a Nier-like but it's very much a Sekiro-like with a focus on parrying. It also has the trademark attack delays where the enemies wind up, pause for x amount of time, then unleash their attack. So it's all about memorizing...
Found the culprit. Somehow my Windows power settings got updated to turn my display off after 15 minutes. Not sure how. It was previously set to never.
My C1 has been powering itself down after sitting idle for a while. It must be from a recent update because it never did this before. What I like to do is use the "screen off" setting when I walk away to prevent burn in. This leaves the display powered on but the pixels off. I figure it's better...
You need to edit the input and set it to PC mode. Look up how to do it for your model.
