Clone the disk then using something to expand the partition? Off hand the linux tool dd would do it followed by partition magic to expand it to the size of the new disk. That should let you bypass any ownership problems. I know there is probably a windows tool out there to do it but off hand...

Xen and vmware are both good choices. Xen is more of a true virtual computer while openvz is more of an emulation. I usually end up simply going with openvz on most machines but if you need to compile your own computer for each node xen is the way to go.

Regardless of when they claim it will ship I would not be surprised if the date slipped...possibly a lot. I have an X60 tablet and love it but they took months more then initially expected to release and then a parts shortage delayed mine from shipping for a few months after that... Even now...

Another vote for lenovo, just picked up an R61 for ~$550 decently equipped that was in the outlet. The unit was never shipped out to a customer so was brand new.
