In the defense of the Alienware oled, you can currently use it at 4k 120 with freesync, we will have to wait until gpus with hdmi 2.1 to do it on the LG c9.
The alienware price is still bonkers though...
Ah ok, looks like I will need to grab one to enjoy gsync on the C9. I imagine they are not able to offer 4k 120 from the RTX hdmi as it does not have the bandwidth? Looks like their hdmi on the rtx has some hdmi 2.1 features like vrr that can be enabled.
This is amazing news!! I have been using my LG C9 at 1440p at 120hz and the motion clarity is incredible and almost crt like.
Will this work with a 1080ti or do I have to get a RTX card?
How do you I use gsync? Do I turn off vsync? Is there any settings other then turning gsync on?
The Sony 43x720e has no pwm, is 4k 4:4:4 has no ABL in graphics picture mode and has 18.7ms lag. It is direct lit vs edge lit and has no vertical banding or dse, less then any tv i have ever used. Comparing it the LG oled c7 and the 43ud79, I prefer the Sony due to superior uniformity vs them...
I just got the 43ud79 a couple of days ago and compared it side by side with my Sony 43x720e. Both have 4k AH-IPS screens but the similarities end there.
LG 43ud79 has lowest input lag I have seen with my Leo Bodnar (top is 3.2ms, middle 10.4ms, bottom 18.1ms ).
The LG has much faster pixel...
Uniformity looks the same on both? You should notice much lower lag on the LG, right?
The sony has a bug where you hve to go out of game picture mode then back again to get the 19ms lag.
Did you update the LG firmware so it has 480hz pwm? If not then it is running at 120hz pwm which is...
Those lag numbers I provided were for the top bar, rtings reports on the middle/average number.
Make no mistake, the Oled picture is infinte amount better then any led tv. I currently have the One X on the oled and it looks bonkers on there!
I may just wait until CES next month to see if LG...
I have had a Sony 43 X720e for a couple months now and really enjoy it for pc and console gaming. I actually use it more then my LG oled C7 for gaming mainly due to lower lag as my Leo bodnar shows the first bar on the Sony at 11ms and the LG C7 is at 19.8ms and yes I feel a difference between...
Yea, I just saw they put up 4k native results for lag!! The sony is running 4:4:4 at 4k at 35ms, not bad at all as long as I turn vsync off.
The interesting thing with these new 4k results is running any samsung at 4k with 4:4:4 shows higher lag then the sony, about 38ms is what they are...
I just want to tell you that you explained perfectly the issue with input lag and that it is cumulative. Under 100ms total lag is great, if a display has 50ms of lag, more then likely your going alot over that total 100ms total lag number.
I have tried explaining this on soo many different...
You get the tv in pc mode by selecting the inputs button on the controller and then choosing the PC icon. Then you will want to change the picture to Game.
let us know if you can feel a difference.
Testing lag at 4k is tricky, the only option right now is to use a highspeed camera and compare...
Yea, with vsync off these displays shoul dbe fine for gaming, but with vsync on I find them too high for input lag. Trying ps4 on them wasn't enjoyable because of the lag so its nice to know that our pc can help with remocing some lag with vsync off :)
Interesting, its possible native 4k in pc...
That's too bad. Rtings.com has the pixel response times for all the tvs they review. VA generally has slower dark transitions. I have found the Samsung VA's last year and this year are more then adequate though.
Very cool! You making any more of those testers? I would be seriously interested as I find this input lag stuff very interesting :)
So, the Samsung tv's for last year and this year have about a frame more lag in PC mode, as that mode also with UHD Color on gives 4:4:4 chroma. In game mode the...
Yup, 100% agree with this and my testing shows that last years Samsung's at 4k native was running slower then 1080p for input lag ( about 2 frames slower ) until they updated it through firmware. Nightmare3129 did alot of testing on this with a high speed camera and proved this to be true.
They...
What one feels is too much input lag is different for each person.
For me, anything over 30ms is too much for me. I had a Samsung monitor that showed 9.2ms on the middle bar, and comparing that to a Samsung 49ks8000 tv that showed 20ms on the middle bar, I couldn't feel any difference...
Vega and Nightmare3129 have the C6 and use it for pc use and pc gaming. They both love it.
BTW I was the one that tested all of those Oled's with my Leo Bodnar and posted them on AVsforum and AVforums. If you don't change the hdmi input as PC, you won't get 4:4:4, that is the only way to get...
If you use C6 in game mode, I think it will be OK ( 34ms ) but if input lag is an issue for you, your way way better off getting the Samsung KS8000, KS9000 series of tv's IMHO. Those have next to no lag that I can feel ( tried the ks8000 ) and they are better picture then last years JU and JS...
I have the ec9300 too and use pc mode with game mode, you find the input lag ok for you? My Leo Bodnar sometime shows as low as 29ms for lag but can jump up to 45ms.... ugh... Even when it shows 29ms it feels much closer to 45ms.
Alot of people on AVS state they feel no lag and even 50-60ms is not an issue. I would not go by them when it comes to input lag.
I tested a ton of oled's with my Leo Bodnar in the last few weeks and posted my findings in the b6 thread there and on avforums. PC mode on the new 2016 oleds are...
That is a good deal for the c6.
I will say that playing games on the ks8000 at 21ms input lag versus the 34ms of the oled's, to me there is a noticeable difference in controller responsiveness for games. If input lag is something your super sensitive to, I would check them both out before...
So I had used the ks8000 and I also have the Leo Bodnar input lag tester.
My findings were that you need to use game mode to get the lowest lag of 21ms. You can enable UHD color even in Game Mode. It will give you 4:2:2 chroma, just like last years JU and JS series tvs. The lag did not increase...
Sounds great!
ULMB, does it add lag? What fps does it allow, 60fps? Would you say the all games would be good on ulmb? I assume ulmb dims the picture and locks out the color controls right?
Other then clarity on still images and size, the LCD will be a major downgrade from the fw900.
I would love to buy them off you, what kind of condition are they in?
How do you hook up a modern gtx card to it? DVI to vga cable?
Computex is going on right now, in the next 24 hrs we will see more monitor announcements. Asus has already announced a 180hz and 240hz monitor today with GSync. Going by past experiences with Asus, these may not be available until late this year.
Gsync IMHO is worth it, it allows you to turn...
I am sure the ks7000 has the same exact specs for input lag, 4:4:4 chroma and 4k 60hz. They all use the same processor and hook up box.
If you want the 55ks7000, I say go for it. I checked out these new Samsungs yesterday at Best Buy and they are impressive, you will love it!
I checked out the new KS8000 and KS9000 series tv's and they look significantly better then the js9000 I had. The static contrast ratio is over double the of the js9000, it really is a huge difference to the contrast ratio.
I highly recommend those looking for a tv/monitor to check them out!
The ks7000 could be different then the ks8000, checking Samsungs website, it looks like they both are SUHDTV's. Input lag on the ks8000 is 20.9ms and that is including the 18ms pixel response, so it has about 2ms of input lag which is very very low for a tv.
I odnt know if the ks7000 has the...
What distance will you be sitting from it?
I used a 48js9000 as a pc gaming monitor, it was about 36 inches away. I would say to use a 55 inch for a monitor you would at least want 40-48 inches away from you. You will have to give it a couple of days to get use to the large size, the only thing...
This is great!
Would this be able to work on my 1080p LG oled tv? It would be nice to get no input lag on it, please let me know and I will preorder!
Also does this require soldering?
