do you regularily view your monitor ina black room like this?
How about taking into considering some real world viewing?
I have one, it has backlight bleed similar to this. I considered RMA'ng it, but figured it was not worth the hassle, especially if i got another one with worse bleed...
well wtf - so the issue happened again just now. This time, i tried the DP cable in all the GPU slots. no dice.
So i unplugged the GPU DP cable, and replaced it with the original cable. Plugged that into the display and it's alive.
Frustrating.
i hadnt had any issue for a few days now, since Sunday.
Had the issue recur tonight, unplugged the display port cable from video card and plugged it into all of the other ports on it. No dice.
Starting to wonder if this is a video card issue. Gonna try a simple re-seat and see how often if at...
ah hrrrrmmmm... the only thing not showing at the bottom right in the taskbar was nvidia geforce experience. It should have been loaded but was not. I guess i'll uninstall that whole suite, run a reg cleanup, and install again.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I just tried a different displayport cable, the issue occurred first cold boot when i got home tonight.
Except, this time, there was no artifact-ish horizontal lines at all. Just the black monitor then monitor no signal.
This is clearly happening after the Loading...
Sometimes, not all, but only when cold booting after bios screen goes awy and.. i think... after loading windows screen goes away during that transition i get horizontal artifact looking lines across a black screen, for maybe a few seconds and then the monitor says no input and just presents the...
What do we use to stress test a CPU these days?
I've got a fresh Win10pro install, and when i run prime95, using the blend test, i get an immediate win10 BSOD.
System is otherwise stable.
No overclocking at all, default bios values. Running i7 6700k, intel PCI-E M.2 SSD, and QVL RAM for this...
So i did the update, that was fine. After the updated i noticed a network HD that i don't use had problems. So i said yes, please troubleshoot it. Windows suggested reinstalling the drivers. I said OK! it did so and wanted to reboot, i said OK!
it reboored, and couldn't find a boot device...
soooooooo, what is a better stability test. furmark with lower clock but more overall card load, or unigen with more core clocks and less overall card load?
i'm guessing there's no straight answer here.
so with my core set to the same as the above picture, +125, in FurMark i get around 1797-1809 boost clock.
it shows 100% load on the core
it shows around 90% load on the memory controller
with the same settings in Unigen i get ~2062mhz core
it shows 99% load on core
it shows ~60% load on...
the numbers i posted above as max were independent of one another.
s0 150mhz was the wall GPU only
825 was the wall RAM only
I'm now in experimentation mode with real games.
ah thanks!
turns out 125/750 isn't stable in game (Project Cars) got artifacts after a few mins then a crash.
dropped it down to +100 and +700 if i recall, or +725, and played L4D2 for 45m without issue.
... what is the gold standard for GPU stability testing these days?
FurMark ?
hey folks,
I'm taking the plunge and finally overclocking my GPU. All 'seems' well so far.
I hit a wall on memory at +825mhz if i recall, without a GPU overclock.
I hit a wall on GPU overclock at +150mhz
so i'm currently at +125 core and +750 RAM.
I'm using Unigen Heaven with settings cranked...
nice to see a well put together guide.
MSI 1070 Gaming X here. (of note, this card has Samsung RAM)
Question, i'm going the RAM overclocking, i'm currently running Unigen Heaven with +525 and am not seeing any artifacting or crashes. How long should i run the unigen for to wait for artifacts...
i own the MMX-300, they are great with the exception of the 'notches' on the headband. They definitely need more 'click' to hold the given notch.
Had to RMA mine a while back after... a year? to get repaired. Not too impressed, at this price point, that something to simple could be under engineered.
yea ok so i just did the fresh install.
worked like a charm, very quick!
used the latest win10 install tool on a usb2 stick, took about 8 minutes to a usable desktop.
thanks Alu.
soo uuhhh.... what exactly am I looking for, in the latest bios, to change the 'mode' of the bios to UEFI?
.. if i change it into UEFI mode, will i still be able to boot my existing windows ssd if need be?
ok so what i've read is that i'll need to actually change the bios to NVME boot mode, and have the IRTS drivers handy... as in, on the same USB stick as the win10 install files?
or is that only for windows 7?
/confused.
hey folks,
Anything special i need to do in order install a 1tb Intel 600p pci-e SSD?
physically install, boot windows on existing SSD, image to m.2 SSD, then boot from m.2 SSD would be the plan.
Gigabyte z170x-gaming 7 motherboard.
Anything special I will have to enable in the BIOS etc to...
i've got a z170x-gaming 7, s6700k.
no overclocking here, updated to F20 the other day for the sake of having the latest bios.
No issues - keyboard works fine, mouse is fine. Not sure about voltage, it's set to auto.
kind of sick of the sound situation with my motherboard and asus xonar essence stx. Software issue with sound output on motherboard, so i got an asus xonar essnce stx.
...Mic noise with asus, and the RMA returned one too :( ... have to use onboard sound for mic input.
Anyhow, i noted in the...
Please and thank you! looks like a nice PSU!
Who doesn't want a nice what PSU? maybe witha few white components in my case, i'll actually be able to find a black thumbscrew that falls for a change, lol
Love me some corsair, was one of the first to own an 800d! it was so fresh it's motherboard...
Another aspect to this is that folks that have a very high IQ and as a result are very quick to grasp concepts etc. can find it quite fatiguing and frustrating to be around those that do not on the same level, because they are always waiting for folks to catch up.
Had this conversation a number...
check out the eye tracking they did for Christiano Ronaldo. It'z crazy how fast his eyes move, how many points he's checking, when going around another player.
it's really that much bigger than the EVGA ACX3.0 Limitedaccess? hard to find good info on the ACX it seems.
edit: oh wow, the evga appears to be in two separate stacks of fins. the MSI is one, apparently larger, bank. Sure seems like the MSI is going to do a better job, not to mention that...
I voted MSI myself, giving them the benefit of the doubt.
I'm really after which card to get, but wanted to keep the question to the cooler.
TBH, i'm waffling between the 1070 and stepping up to a 1080. I've got a 970 now, which a guy at work wants.
The difference between EVGA and MSI @ the...
