Apple Pencil with iPad - useful for making illustrations?

How useful is the Apple pencil if you mostly do vector graphics for illustrations and diagrams? What software is used for that on the iPad, anyway?

    Hardware Nexus: ASUS Scammed Us

I don't buy Asus mainboards because of price or features. I buy them because the chance of it being outright broken is low and for all their faults their BIOSes are pretty good. Note that I buy low or medium priced Asus brands such as Prime. I had bad experience with higher end desktop boards. I...

    Hardware Nexus: ASUS Scammed Us

I wrote rants like this about Asus' RMA policies 20 years ago. I still buy Asus mainboards, but I wouldn't send them in for RMA.

    Sound card vs. USB DAC

Why is everybody talking about "preamps"? No preamps are involved in the chain from DAC to amp to speaker.

    Sound card vs. USB DAC

That is a common complaint of mine, lack of USB-controlled hamster volume. And you can usually not find out about it before purchase. But doesn't it have an easy to use volume knob?

Apple Plans To Overhaul Entire Mac Line With AI-Focused M4 Chips

I do ssh around for actual work, but the problem is that the web browser which I also need is local. And that can be a RAM killer when you have many tabs.

Apple Plans To Overhaul Entire Mac Line With AI-Focused M4 Chips

Not when it comes to running x86 virtual machines. That's the major reason I still use my 2019 i9 Macbook Pro. And the battery life is enough to carry it from one A/C outlet to another :)

After a fresh OS install, do you update your drivers from the website directly or let Windows do it for you?

You indeed don't know any of that. It is a weakness in the current driver distribution model. Obviously there should be clear version numbers visible on downloads' file names and on whatever is running right now.

Assetto Corsa Evo - coming 2024?

That link doesn't show anything to me. But yes, I hope we get another game where any random car can be modded in and where car setup has such a priority. Maybe a better tire model than AC1.

New ZenHammer memory attack impacts AMD Zen CPUs

They can be triggered from any native code execution, including remote. So not yet from Javascript in a wen browser, but any form of remote code execution will do. Physical access is irrelevant for this class of vulnerabilities.

Unpatchable vulnerability in Apple chip leaks secret encryption keys

Not physical access. A remote execution is sufficient. And over time it might be possible to exploit this from Javascript or Webassembly.

I had a similar issue just recently. The USB isolator changed nothing. But you can still try it and send it back to Amazon if it doesn't do it. I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0849JGL93/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 I ended up getting an entire new USB...
