Hey all,
I'm going to be installing three Ubiquiti AP's in my house pretty soon, rather than have the three POE injectors on my backboard i'd like to get a POE switch to handle it. 5 ports really should be fine for now and in the future. Are the Ubiquiti switches the ones to get?
Two AP-AC...
Who can I contact about the HTPC forum? I don't see a mod listed for it.
Couple people suggested the ancient and out-of-date stickies at the top come down and possible replaced with more current ones.
Thanks.
I know Vbull is a bag of shit, another forum I post on swapped from VBull to Xenforo, a much more modern platform. It even has ability to transfer in an existing Vbull forum so no content is lost.
Plus it allows for things like @ mentions, notifications of replies to your posts, and has a...

Up for sale are two individual HP Mediasmart EX475's.
One of them has been upgraded to 2 gigs of ram, the other has the original spec 512MB. A power cord is included. I do not have the original discs for these, but I will include copies of the three discs they came...
Up for sale is one Tivo HD XL. Model number TCD658000. Up to 150 hours of HD recoding.
$100 shipping included. Not interested in any trades.
You get a power cord and the remote. You will have to subscribe to the guide data service or this won't work. The unit itself works fine, I have...
Going from an i5-750 up to an i5-3570, I currently have an Ati 5870.
I play mostly Skyrim and STO right now. I've got a 24" monitor at 1920x1080.
I was thinking about a GTX 670. Budget really isn't an issue, but the 670 looks like the most bang for the buck for me right now.

Now I'll go pick it up on the way out of town this weekend. #WINNING
We're going to put our DirecTV on hold for six months. I really only keep it around for the NFL Sunday Ticket.
The local cable company has a promo right now, first month is free, and we can get a double play bundle with internets and tv that winds up being $60 a month cheaper overall.
So...
Hi guys, want to get your thoughts on a couple things.
Looks like I have a couple potential trips to Europe this coming year, Italy and the UK to be exact. I'd like to be able to make local calls, and have a data plan for internets. I don't need a ton of data, I barely use the 200mb...

I might have to pick this up once it's out and use my old iPod Touch with it.

Backordered online, two stores in my area have them in stock though. YMMV.
Long story short, the Westell wi-fi DSL modem router box that came with the the service craps out every couple days. I bought a new Acrtiontec GT701D to replace it and installed it in bridge mode. The Actiontec works great for a few days, much better than the verizon POS, then the bandwidth gets...
DirecTV has their own version of MOCA they use now for the multi-room viewing option. It's MOCA tech but runs on a different frequency so it's compatible with the sat signals.
It's can also be had for cheaper than MOCA gear.
Go to Ebay and search for "DirecTV DECA"
I've got an APC 2200VA rack mount UPS. A Smart-UPS series.
It's almost 10 years old and the old batteries were obviously worn out so I bought new ones. They are in fact the proper replacements, I triple checked.
Installed the new batteries and plugged the UPS in with no load so they could...
I was looking around for something to automagically grab the proper metadata for the video files I was making with Handbrake, particularly TV show dvd rips. I came across iFlicks.

Nope, it's not free, but it works. It's not hands free either, but it's saving me a lot...
Hi guys, latest Sage beta is out.
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49685
One thing thats been listed as fixed is the issue where if you power cycle your TV thats connected via HDMI the SageTV menu would come back and only part of it was visible.
I have that issue, and I...
Can anyone see any potential issues running 3 20" 1600x1200 displays for Eyefinity? I've already got the monitors, so all I'd need is the video card and a proper Displayport adaptor.
I haven't seen anyone else do this, hence the question.
I've got an early '08 MBP. Should both fans be running at the same time? Or do they only both spin up when needed?
The "geniuses" at the local Apple store failed at fixing my MBP grinding fan noise. "We ran it for 16 hours and detected no problems". mmmkay, you guys must be deaf and...
Did one last year, time for another.
This is the basic set of parts you need for a good HD capable HTPC. Add a case, OS, optical drive, hard drive, heatsink/fan, tuner etc, of your choice.
Motherboard - ASUS M3N78-VM AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard (Does everything...
I've got one GTX 260 (192) already and could easily add another one, PSU and motherboard are all ready to go.
Is it worth it to just get say a 5870, or wait a bit and get something else in a single card solution, or something else entirely?
I've got a Core i5 rig at 3.2ghz, 4 gigs ram. I'm...
I've done the usual steps of uninstalling and re-installing FFDShow, but no playback app will use it. And I did follow Wiretaps guide, along with getting the latest versions of everything.
The files I'm playing back work just fine and decode properly with FFDshow on my XP box.
Any...
Using the info w1retap has posted a couple of times, I set up a W7 box to test out Media Center.
It works, everything, no issues, no PITA's like I've had with VMC.
It even plays HD-DVD rips in an MKV container with CoreAVC/Cuda on it's lowly CPU that SageTV has issues with.
Specs are...
Not sure if anyone saw this over on Missingremote.com so I thought I 'd make a thread about it here.

$90, includes mini-itx PSU. It's 13" deep so it has some good room for 2.5" HD's and such.
Pair this up with nice nVidia...
Hi guys, I need to get a remote for VMC. The issue is is that there is also an Xbox 360 in the same room so just plugging in an MS remote won't work since they both use the remote codes.
Anyone know of a remote that works reasonably well at the same price point?
Thanks.
I've got 2 hours to kill before a shindig, and since we seem to get tons of "whats parts do I need for an HTPC" I thought I would post a basic list to get people started.
Feel free to make other hardware suggestions, this is by no means the end all be all list.
This is meant to be an HTPC...
