I usually let Windows update do its thing and then snag drivers directly for various elements (Mobo, GPU, Intel/AMD, Soundcard etc etc etc). Probably helps that I'm not running much of anything I expect Windows update to mess up...

Yes and no? They likely won't release an update to remove it, but your not going to be able to download or install it anymore from Microsoft. Plus the entirety of Windows 10 support ends in October of 2025 anyway. Plenty of time to upgrade though.
Likely due to oddities with nVidia and DSC. Switch to 8-bit colour and make sure your connected to HDMi 2 or 3 on the monitor and then see if you can make it work.
