Laptop with dvd drive

I have a friend looking for a laptop. Any recommendations or suggestions for new or used? $1000+/-

Edit: looks like they haven't had dvd rom drive built in for almost a decade?

Websites for used suggestions?

External USB drive won't do? He is a website with some options to look for if you must have internal.

Worse case I'm going to steer him that way. I don't know anything about Apple products but I believe dvd roms built into the laptop have been gone awhile right?

Yea I think you are giving up too much to get a internal DVD drive.

2012 they came out with the first Retina Macbook Pros which ditched optical media. By 2013, the entire Mac lineup didn't have optical media. The Mac Pro was the last to lose it.

Not sure what your friend is thinking. I haven't even touched a disc in.... uhhh 8+ years? External is more or less your only bet. Unless they want a non-Mac or want something that isn't updated any more and is considered obsolete by Apple.
