Get Ready for "Gamerlicious" Nvidia Control Panel

Right now the driver package and Nvidia App are still totally separate. You can install the normal drivers without PhysX/Audio/GFE/etc. The App's a separate download. It asks you if you want the Studio or Gaming drivers and it asks if you want the overlay on at least if you answer that you want...

Get Ready for "Gamerlicious" Nvidia Control Panel

It's still there, but it does ask you if you want the overlay on when you're installing the Nvidia app. The old GFE had it on by default, but the new app lets you choose.

Get Ready for "Gamerlicious" Nvidia Control Panel

I've been using the app a little bit more for making individual edits to game settings. For instance, Fallout 76 doesn't like when you limit your FPS, which I have universally set to 117. The app makes that easier than the older control panel. I don't really need it, but the performance booster...

The Last of Us Part II

Considering the state of the first game, hopefully they're using all this extra time to polish things up. It's a game I'd probably buy again since I enjoy the console version so much. I've played through it at least 6-7 times and plan to keep doing so every time we go through a dry spell of new...

    Dragon Age: THE VEILGUARD

I knew it was made quickly, I was more surprised it was your favorite. It's usually the odd-man-out with fans of BG and Neverwinter loving the original while MMO fans flocked to 3.

    Pixel 9 / Pixel 9 Pro / Pixel 9 Pro... XL?

Unfortunately I need something smaller overall, not a large object that becomes less large. The Flip is ideal on paper...but Samsung (n). I've sworn off Samsung phones forever. If Google doesn't ever make a clamshell/flip phone then I'll wait for Apple if I have to.

New laptops ship with Home, so that's the option I have.

    Dragon Age: THE VEILGUARD

Really? Wow. I think it was pretty clearly finished quickly. There were only like 3 dungeons and they repeated over and over again with the doors in different places.

    Dragon Age: THE VEILGUARD

At this point I just hope it isn't the next Dragon Age 2.

Microsoft blocks workaround that enabled users to create local accounts as part of the OOBE installer.

Bah, this is annoying. I've been using this trick for years at work and it's the easiest and most convenient way to do it. Plus, in spite of our company email accounts being 365 accounts, MS doesn't consider 'em to be Microsoft accounts.

    Playstation VR2 discussion thread

Interesting...and a hair disappointing. At least it isn't super expensive. I'll have to check out some reviews to see if it's worthwhile. Pretty sure I don't have any display port cables of any sort, either.

    Pixel 9 / Pixel 9 Pro / Pixel 9 Pro... XL?

I still want/need one that folds. Phones are getting to be too big for my pockets and I'm not gonna be that toolbox using a holster. If they can't/won't make a folding model, just don't gimp the smaller model.

    Fallout 4

Welp, I hit the end of the line. I sided with the Minutemen and the final missions were just as short as the main story. Pretty sure I did the BoS finale last time. There isn't much else to do in Fallout 4, so I think I'll fire up 76 and see what's changed over the last few years. I think I was...

    Concord (PVP multiplayer FPS)

That's what they were saying in the breakdown. Still seems pointless to me. It's up there with fighting game plots. "XXX is a badass XXX specialist who came from XXX and wants to be the best fighter in the world by winning this tournament."

    Concord (PVP multiplayer FPS)

The strangest thing about this was that they did a bunch of world building in the little vignette. Then you see the actual game and it's an arena shooter that doesn't need a plot. I was hoping for some kind of space RPG and they hit me with the exact opposite.

    Fallout 4

I think the update was mostly to get the console versions up to snuff with the newer hardware. Bethesda's philosophy with PC support tends to be "they'll fix that with mods and console commands, so why bother?" I've had plenty of bugs in both of my playthroughs. Not quite launch day Elder...

    Playstation VR2 discussion thread

I had the most fun with games that were just straight-up VR demo showcases. VR Worlds (especially the London Heist), Eagle Flight, and Rush of Blood/Switchback. With the PSVR2/PS5 lacking backward compatibility, I'd welcome being able to play those PSVR1 titles on a PC w/ the newer headset. I...

    Fallout 4

I suppose I'll just rip that band-aid off over the weekend. I don't think I've missed any major side story plotlines (Cabot House, the Big Dig, and such) so it's probably time to just roll toward the end of the line. I don't even remember who I chose 6 years ago, so it's all fresh to me. I have...

    Fallout 4

Mass Fusion is pretty much right where I am. I kinda think all of the factions are tools (typical Fallout), so I'm not really concerned with who wins or not. At this point I think I'm mainly just looking to elongate the experience a bit more. After putting in 100+ hours into wandering the...

    Fallout 4

I think I'm getting close to the point of no return as far as factions go. I'm not necessarily at the end of the main story, but seemingly every quest people throw at me will piss one of the others off. Is there a particularly good questline I should look out for in the Institute or Brotherhood...

    Playstation VR2 discussion thread

Could be interesting. Not sure mine would get much more use, but I'd still welcome it. IMO, the issues I have with the headset are with the headset itself. IMO it's really hard to get a good viewing angle (if you don't - it looks kinda jank) and it's just not particularly comfortable, either...

Choosing the game of the year from 1981 - 2023 and beyond...

That was such a neat game at the time. It was very much a precursor to modern fighting games like Street Fighter with the different fighting styles/opponents. I dumped a ton of quarters into that one at my local skating rink, lol. I only totally won it a couple times. I don't think it ever got a...

    Fallout 4

Fallout (all of 'em) does a pretty good job of making most factions have a pretty obvious downside. It makes choosing their opposition easier, but it also makes choosing a side more challenging. I don't know if I've ever felt 100% on board with anyone in any Fallout game.

    Fallout 4

The Silver Shroud quest is in Goodneighbor. I think you just have to tune into the radio station, but if that doesn't work - talk to the ghoul in the little room on the right side of the memory den. It's one of the better and more memorable side quests. With Far Harbor, there are 3 factions and...

Review the game you finished recently.

I still feel like Horizon Forbidden West repeatedly doubled down on the (few) bad things in the original. I loved the first game, but I got sick of Forbidden West's weapon system really, really quickly.

    Fallout 4

I haven't done any of the caravan stuff. Hell, I don't even know how :p Luckily I have a boatload of supplies. I took the perks that let me fast travel and move normally when encumbered, so I can just pick up everything in sight now. I finally found an item for my right arm that boosts 2 stats...

    Fallout 4

I've barely messed with my various companions. I have all of 'em except Deacon and X6, but have mainly stuck with Ada nearly the whole time. I sent the rest to Sanctuary. Ada = no judgement on any decisions, carries a ton of weight, and packs a ton of firepower when upgraded.

    Fallout 4

Materials-wise, I tend to go through phases where I need one thing or another. Usually based on my habits of picking up random stuff. Right now I think I have piles of everything but ceramic thanks to me upgrading a few power armor suits. Vault 88 was a lifesaver when I built my compound in...

    Fallout 4

You might like that section. My wife loves stuff like that, so you might too. Give it a try and see what you think. Totally unrelated, anyone else notice that Far Harbor seems to be absolutely overflowing with adhesive? It's kinda funny considering it's pretty rare in most of the world. There...

I'm not into puzzle games in general, so I was miserable doing the memories section. Can't say I as very happy about them changing my control scheme, either. It took me forever to realize that jump was Y instead of A. I had to look up a solution only to realize that I could jump. Once I figured...

    Fallout 4

As I'm progressing through Far Harbor, I definitely have to salute the team that made the DLCs for this game. If you combine them, you basically have a whole new game. It's high quality stuff that's (mostly) fun to do, too. Can't say I love the memory puzzles, but they're at least pretty well...

Kinda funny. Akuma has a secret taunt that turns him into Shin Akuma and gives him access to a pair of new super moves: https://x.com/FGAnniversaries/status/1793344865176002632 Completely impractical, but kinda fun. Even though I don't love the mechanics in SF6, it's hard not to appreciate the...

    Fallout 4

I've mostly just found them. Most of mine have been complete sets just sitting around. At least minus the Quantum set that required finding all those damned star cores. A few were locked up in dungeons/buildings, but at least 5-6 of them were sitting in random sheds or shacks. I took a couple of...

    Fallout 4

I've been exploring the Far Harbor areas and was happy to encounter a pair of Vim power armors. Their stats weren't great, but they'll look nice in my collection. In general, Vim seems to be exponentially more rare than Nuka. I've only found maybe 4-5 bottles in total, and that's looking in all...

    Street Fighter 6

Be prepared to see nothing but Akuma for the next few months. It's gonna be like Tekken 8 when Eddy Gordo showed up. At least on my game he attacked me no matter what I did. On the other hand, you CAN avoid him. He's in front of the tower where you first meet him, so you can avoid going near there on your way to eradicate the disciples. I think you're safe from having to kill him as long as you complete that...

I rolled with it since I didn't want to piss off Preston and my posse in Sanctuary Hills. I spent a ton of time building my HQ there. Open Season is amusing because you create such an insane body count. I bet I killed at least 100 people during the process alone. Even after you're done, you...

You can power up the park without doing any raider invasion missions. You have to kill all 4 of the gang leaders as part of the "Open Season" mission given to you by one of the slaves in the Nuka marketplace. That's what I ended up doing. The only real caveat is that Porter Gage also turns...

    Fallout 4

I'm nigh unkillable in most scenarios, so I don't really care about protection all that much. Most of the time I just run right at things and gun them down. At this point I'd trade 90% of my protection for stat boosts. I *am* in Far Harbor right now, so I'm sure I'll snag the fancy set, though...
