I've got a Huanan X99 F8D in the Torrent - EATX and covering all of the holes on the front to 100%.
Here you can see how i've routed my cables. ATX and dual 8pin 12V are on the top of the board.
You're right - but then you're fixed of running VMs and you can't access all the Hardware at once (what you might want to do if you'll use that server as a kind of a workstation).
Depends ... everything has pros and cons ...
Oh man, I love those 'look how big my dick is' things. :D
But only 64 gigs of Ram? You could update that! :)
I also love my dually Workstation. Next update will be dual Xeon Platinum 8280 as soon as they are affordable (so in 2 years or so...)
(Bench was taken with 4 VMs running - so maybe...
Here you've got a review of the Compact and Nano ... I know it's in german but maybe it's helpful.

Hm... Seems that those coolers are not easily available here in Germany 🙄😔
However, I've found some adequate replacement - from an old GeForce MX Card.
Works like a charm and it's not noisy anymore (at least not that fan 😂)
Since somehow there is no one interested in the board i got from another forum a few month ago, and it has only been lying around since the construction of my Dual Xeon E5-2680v4 workstation, I thought I would build a sleeper. Hyper-V and stuff like that can be run on it, at least temporarily...
I don't Really know the exact Setup - but both were connected simultaneously to the network and had the same specs. I could image some sort of fail over cluster... Maybe with some special controlling software.
It was one of the backbone servers of the "Belwue" high-school network in Germany . His name is Hugo (yeah, no joke! Also had a sister named Lisa).
Cost of that thing with current spec is around 200k - plus the two RS/8s.
Yeah, that WAS a BEAST. THE beast.
SamirD : It's Windows NT 4.0 SP6 - Seems to support 4 CPUs out of the box with the 'Multiprocessor Kernel', which is detected during installation ... :)
Hi all,
as promised here, I want to show you what was Ultra-High-End back in the days of 1997 (25 years ago!).
It all started with a server from my high school, equipped with 2 166MHz CPUs and 256MB Ram. Over the years, i got 4 1MB 200 MHz Pentium Pros (aka 'Blackies'), the corresponding CPU...
As far as I remember... Think I've not vergotten anything. .. But these are the milestones:
MOS 6502 (C64)
Motorola MC68000 (Amiga 500)
Intel 386 (IBM PS/2)
Pentium 150 (first real PC, ca. 1997)
AMD K6/2 350
AMD Thunderbird 1000MHz (start of OCing stuff...)
AMD Barton 2500+
Intel Core2 Duo...
Venturi : I've got the rgb super slow and only cycling blue and green and the colors in between... Don't like a disco style light under my desk 😂
The aerocool mirage are good coolers, of course not the best, but sufficient. And quite silent until 1500rpm.
Super nice rigs - and super expensive, too!
I can't afford that, but for me my Dual Xeon workstation ( dual E5 2680v4, 128 gb ram, GTX970) is sufficient.
Today I tried to render the PovRay Wiki Glass image in 1920x1080... Took ages!
RGB does (in my opinion) not mean that the case has to be lit up like a rainbow.
I like the colors, but have it quite decent and the color change is set up super slow. Normally i only have blue and green.
However, it seems that some games like Halo Infinite takes over the control - i've got...
I had a cpu temp drop of a couple of degrees after installing an exhaust fan ... But that might be to my special dual cpu setup...
However I do not think you need it. The amount of air from the two 180mm fans is incredible, already at 300rpm.
I've uploaded a video to youtube, showing the Workstation running at full load (>600W) (starting at idle). Notice it would neither get too hot nor too loud.
Just got a new Triple Monitor Desk Stand and got my desk nearly cable-free (ordered three longer dvi - cables to eliminate that cables from the outer tfts).
