    $2,500 RTX-5090 ( 60% faster than 4090 )

Nvidia's investments in GPGPU and CUDA way back in the mid 2000's was the turning point for the company, I think.

    $2,500 RTX-5090 ( 60% faster than 4090 )

The fact that Jensen, an engineer, is one of the co-founders and he's been right there from the start, all the while navigating the ship through the high stakes and brutally competitive tech industry and being able to take it to where it is now. Quite extraordinary, I have to say.

Would you ever go back to LCD after experiencing OLED?

Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake II, MS Flight Simulator (when flying at night) and Dying Light 2. The frame rates were fairly consistent at around 100~130 fps range with no wild swings and yet the VRR flickering was really bad in-game. I mean I don't mind it happening in menu screens but when it...

Would you ever go back to LCD after experiencing OLED?

I just got a PG32UCDM and the VRR flicker is horrendous in many games with dark scenes. Much worse than my C1 OLED TV. I wonder if the high refresh rate of 240Hz exacerbated the issue. Honestly as much as the image quality is better than my old ips, the VRR flicker is very distracting.

MSI Gaming Trio NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 - Temp Check

These are the max temps I get after running Time Spy Extreme, Speed Way and Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark at max settings with path tracing and DLSS. The 4090 is undervolted 2800MHz @ 975mV and +1000MHz to the VRAM. Case is the Asus ProArt PA602. Ambient temp is around 26C.

    $2,500 RTX-5090 ( 60% faster than 4090 )

I had an ATi Radeon 9600XT back then and it really struggled with the Doom 3 and Far Cry at 640x480 resolution on a CRT monitor. Only Half Life 2 ran decently. It was only when I got a Geforce 7600GT a few years later that I was able to finally play Doom 3 and Far Cry properly and even on a...

DLSS 3 frame generation - yes or no?

In my recent personal experience, DLSS FG is quite useful in maximizing the headroom my high refresh rate monitor and overcoming CPU bottlenecks. I'm currently using DLSS SR 3.7 (Preset E) and FG 3.7 versions of the DLL files in my games and ghosting is minimal to none. DLSS FG works fine...

    $2,500 RTX-5090 ( 60% faster than 4090 )

I remember when people kept on saying that the 4090 will launch at >$2000 MSRP and it actually ended up at $1599 MSRP. We'll see how the MSRP goes with the 5090. I'm guessing it won't even reach $2K.

Would you ever go back to LCD after experiencing OLED?

At home, I watch HDR and DV content on my 48" LG C1 600nit OLED (calibrated with Calman for LG Home). When I'm on the go, I watch HDR and DV content on my MacBook Pro 14" 1600nit miniLED and the latter is very good. I also don't notice blooming. I can go back and forth between these displays...

    7900xtx or 4080 super?

No sense in doing dual-gpu in this day and age where SLI and crossfire support have been basically abandoned because devs aren't willing to pick up the slack left by the driver teams after moving to DX12/Vulkan.

Any of us running 48GB (2x24GB) high frequency on Z790 platforms?

14900K and Asus Z790 ProArt. I guess I just wanted to save a few bucks so I settled for those speeds. I pretty much only game on this PC so ram speeds don't really matter much from what I've read. As long as the DDR5 is at least 10ns, I'm good.

Any of us running 48GB (2x24GB) high frequency on Z790 platforms?

    I got a 48GB (2x24GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6400MT/s CL36 kit last month. It's stable at XMP II but unfortunately, it came with Micron/SpecTek chips. I guess that explains the rather loose 36-48-48-104 timings. I changed that to a 64GB (2x32GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 30-36-36-76...

Am I pushing it with 750W and RTX 4090

I just got an FSP Hydro Ti Pro 1000W. Performance is solid, it's more compact than the usual 1000W PSU and it's quiet. The modular cables are a bit stiff though. BTW, seems like the newer batches of this ATX3.0 PSU already have the 12V-2x6 socket.

    Battlefield 2042

Easy Anti-Cheat was replaced with EA Anti-Cheat with Season 6. Initially after the update, Battlefield 2042 wouldn't launch until I cleared the cache in the EA app. I also I had to lower the RAM speed from the previously working XMP profile to stop the game from freezing the PC. I also noticed...

    14900K Is this normal Behaviour?

    1. Have you checked if your Windows power profile is set to "Balanced" instead of "High Performance"? 2. Higher temps with the 14900K is expected. It is raptor lake pushed to the limit, right out of the box after all. You can try to disable MCE and select Intel default limits if you haven't...

i7 12700k to i9 14900k good performance difference in my opinion

Yes. The memory chips are Samsung. I bought one of the first 6000MT/s DDR5 kits that were available in the market. I'm thinking of replacing those with SK Hynix A-Die equipped RAM sticks to get the most out of the 14900K and before memory prices go up.

i7 12700k to i9 14900k good performance difference in my opinion

FWIW, I upgraded my gaming PC from a 12700K to a 7800X3D/X670E system and while some games like MSFS 2020, Assetto Corsa Competizione and Battlefield 2042 ran significantly faster and with lower power consumption, and also games generally ran smoother with less stutter at similar fps with the...

    [H]ot? Warm? Samsung G8 OLED 175hz 34" UW $899

Does your OLED G8 wake up from stand-by properly? In my case, I find it annoying that I have to always remember to press the home button on the remote every time to manually wake up my G8. In very rare occasions, after exiting a game in full screen exclusive mode, the monitor loses connection...

How many 4080/4090 owners plan to upgrade to a respective 50 series when available?

Day one purchase for me hopefully at or near MSRP and so I can recoup some of the cost by selling the 4090 while it can still fetch good prices in the second-hand market. That and to avoid the price hikes of the latest GPUs that usually comes later whenever some GPU-related craze comes up.

Would you ever go back to LCD after experiencing OLED?

I go back and forth between two PCs: One with a QD-OLED 175Hz monitor and another with an IPS 165Hz monitor. Both are calibrated and set in SDR/sRGB mode. I don't do HDR because the implementation sucks in Windows and isn't color accurate. While OLED dominates in terms of contrast, black...

Intel APO testing, 12th & 13th gen get the shaft

It's interesting that APO actually increases e-core utilization while improving the performance and using less power as Steve noted in the video. At first I thought APO just makes sure that game threads get sent to the P-cores and never the e-cores.

    Cinebench 2024 Out

Finally got Cinebench 2024 to run on my main PC. I had to lower RAM speed to 6200MT/s from 6400MT/s to get the CPU tests to finish and increase the voltage of the 4090 from 950mV to 960mV to stop the GPU test CTDs. I also disabled WIndows 11 Core Isolation for good measure. This benchmark is...

14900KS coming with new boards same 1700 socket TechYES video

I'm guessing Intel simply just wanted to release a new gen this year but meteor lake/arrow lake isn't ready for the desktop yet so they ended up releasing a mild raptor lake refresh just for the sake of pure marketing reasons. 14th gen doesn't compel me at all to upgrade from my 13700K. I'll...

    Cinebench 2024 Out
