That is a common complaint of mine, lack of USB-controlled hamster volume. And you can usually not find out about it before purchase.
But doesn't it have an easy to use volume knob?
I do ssh around for actual work, but the problem is that the web browser which I also need is local. And that can be a RAM killer when you have many tabs.
Not when it comes to running x86 virtual machines. That's the major reason I still use my 2019 i9 Macbook Pro. And the battery life is enough to carry it from one A/C outlet to another :)
You indeed don't know any of that. It is a weakness in the current driver distribution model. Obviously there should be clear version numbers visible on downloads' file names and on whatever is running right now.

They can be triggered from any native code execution, including remote. So not yet from Javascript in a wen browser, but any form of remote code execution will do. Physical access is irrelevant for this class of vulnerabilities.
