For gaming 1440P is good, for desktop work - especially small text/PDF based - my change from 30" 1600P to 32" 4K (=same height) is noticeable.
That's just 32% more power for 4% more performance compared to my undervolted 13900K. These top-of-the-line CPUs are overclocked out of factory and very long past the point of diminishing returns.
It works if you are sitting close enough, but is rather small. Keep in mind that Windows 11 not only allows to set a DPI to scale everything, but also allows to scale text separately.
Both 1440P and 4K are 16:9, so they use the same FOV. You could use a wider resolution on the X32 with black bars above and below to get a wider FOV. Several games also allow to change the FOV via in-game settings.
Apart from not liking your snarky and ignorant remark: these images were shot with local dimming enabled, with the usual caveat of camera exposure emphasizing things. Thanks for your show of armchair attitude. You may move on in your life now.
Ignore the white-balance differences. These are IPS glow differences between the CM GP27U vs. Acer X32 FP in a dark room (no reflections!) using the same camera exposure settings:
You could take a look at IPS panels with ATW polarizer that suppress IPS glow (turns brighter whitish glow into subdued colored glow). That might increase the number of potential alternatives. If you are in no hurry then wait for next year when not only the new OLED are coming out, but...
If you are not in a hurry then I would wait until next year. The supposed 32" 240 Hz OLEDs panels will push competition and more mini LED panels with increased zone count may arrive (Acer offers one in China already).
It supports Freesync (as does the Acer) which works with NVidia Gsync just the same. My 2070 Super has issues with the Acer implementation, though, while the Asus worked better. But 30 and 40 series users have reported that they could not reproduce my 2070 based problems with their Acers.
I tried the PF32uqxR, the Cooler Master GP27U, the Corsair 32UHD144 (edge instead of mini LED) and Acer X32 FP. The Acer offers the best compromise of the three. It's cheaper than the Asus while using the same panel, it's local dimming algorithm is dark biases, which may not be for everyone, but...
Thanks for sharing. I don't switch input via DDC, but I change brightness via DDC. Unfortunately this is only possible for SDR mode. If you try to change brightness via DDC in HDR mode then the monitor switches to User mode and thus loses HDR lighting, aka everything gets dark. So watch out for...
What's up with monitors putting the pixel-panel so far in front of the backlight that wide viewing angles make pixels vanish to the sides? I mean, it's kind of a "hologram" like experience seeing the pixels float in space from the sides, but the outer pixels becoming invisible at some point...
