A "keyboard" that only has audio functions, is there such thing?

That's kind of my backup plan if I can't find anything. Never done anything like that before but I imagine I can find some code samples to go from.

A "keyboard" that only has audio functions, is there such thing?

I got a new KVM that does emulation, so it does not suck like most other KVMs. Downside of that, is any special functions don't work, such as volume control, stop/pause/play etc. Is there such a device that acts like a keyboard, but only has those functions on it and has a small foot print...

    Post Your pfSense Setup/pfSense Sugestions

I'd be more worried about the Intel ME backdoor (AMD has something like that too I think) than Supermicro as it affects practically every modern PC. Sadly there does not seem to be much known about that backdoor and anyone that talks about how to disable it gets a C&D from Intel. I've briefly...

Dealing with users who avoid screensaver/lock screen?

Exactly. There are lot of situations where screensavers are a huge pain in the ass and that is one of them. When they were pushing GPOs to make ours keep timing out you can bet your ass we found a way to stop it, while our boss was yelling at IT to make it stop. But this applies to...

Yeah kinda my train of thought, say you have a risky VM that has a port forwarded to it, it's on the appropriate vlan etc, but that VM gets hacked (which on it's own might be fine or even expected), from there they could in theory hop on the firewall and then start changing stuff. Then again...

Dealing with users who avoid screensaver/lock screen?

Sounds more like a HR issue than an IT issue, people should be told to lock their PCs and if it's that serious maybe even be reprimanded if they keep failing to. Having stuff time out on you in the middle of your shift when you're sitting at the PC is annoying as hell and impacts production...

    Post Your pfSense Setup/pfSense Sugestions

This thread might help you: https://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/192-bell-aliant-home-phone-internet-iptv/134496-some-tidbits-fibreop-infrastructure.html I have the same service and I too found it annoying being stuck with a double NAT but I was able to get rid of the Actiontec and replace it with...

    Post Your pfSense Setup/pfSense Sugestions

Curious how this is done from a security standpoint. Wouldn't that involve hooking up the VM server straight to the internet? I know you would assign the outside NIC only to the pfsense VM so the other VMs arn't actually facing the internet, but I still would feel a bit uncomfortable with...

Dealing with users who avoid screensaver/lock screen?

I'll tell you this from a user perspective (But also one that has worked in IT). Screensavers and application time outs SUCK. They are a major annoyance and impede on productivity, and serve little to no purpose. While I'm sitting at my PC I don't want crap constantly timing out on me, there...

China installing spy chips on hardware

This one should be easier to confirm given it's a chip and not something inside a chip like Intel ME. But given how hell bent governments are on spying on us it's not really far fetched. But it would be good to have it confirmed, and also tell us how to disable it. Same with Intel ME...

Russian Hackers Use Malware That Can Survive OS Reinstalls

Is there even a way to turn it off? On most UEFI motherboards I've seen I've never found an option. I've always hated it too for the simple reason that it adds extra complexity to the boot process for nothing and greatly slows it down. Instead of the computer taking a few seconds to get to...

China installing spy chips on hardware

It really seems we can't trust hardware anymore. The intel ME is the real threat that seems to have blown over, but that's a BAD one because AMD does it too, so really, x86 as a whole is no longer secure from the prying eyes of the government. The SM one here is obviously bad too, but the fact...

pfsense RRD graphs suck after 2.4 upgrade

Oh right I always forget that pfsense has a SSH interface. I have a custom monitoring system so I should be able to pull the data that way then. Not sure if my agent would actually compile on it but as long as I can get the raw data somehow I can write the required scripts on the monitoring...

pfsense RRD graphs suck after 2.4 upgrade

How do you get the raw data? I eventually want to do something like that too.

pfsense RRD graphs suck after 2.4 upgrade

Yep they do suck. I kinda got over it but I do miss them. I don't know WTH they were thinking there. Old ones were way better. They are also harder to get to, it's less obvious than before. you would think it would be under "Traffic graphs" but nope. Monitoring.
