Chinese spies are targeting disgruntled workers within U.S. corporations, warns national counterintelligence head Michael Casey

Makes you think that these countries have already declared war on us in a way.

Microsoft blocks workaround that enabled users to create local accounts as part of the OOBE installer.

Can you explain further, so I can justify the extra expense on a new system.

No class. Brutal. But a sign of the times. Companies have no shame and no concern for their reputation on sites like Glassdoor. Didn't you have a return ticket? If not, and you had to pay for it, maybe you should have filed a complaint. After you got home, of course. I don't suppose you...

Intel Lunar Lake Technical Deep Dive - So many Revolutions in One Chip

Compelled? I'm HAPPY to go with AMD. I'm not exactly a fanboy type but I've become very loyal to AMD.

Intel Fights Back | Arc Battlemage, Xe2 GPUs, & Changing Hyper-Threading

I'm confused here, I hate to admit it. Doesn't SMT mean Surface Mount Technology? What does chip mounting have to do with core optimization?

Computex 2024 Preview: The Hardware Side

Can't speak for you and your boss, but my "boss" doesn't think much of AI. We don't do POs, we do MasterCard and then a monthly payment to the bank.

    Stablebit scanner or HD Sentinel?

In a different thread, someone mentions Stablebit scanner. https://hardforum.com/threads/ssd-failing-and-migration.2035157/#post-1045893230 It sounds like a direct replacement for HD Sentinel? Anyone care to comment?

Morally suspect help desk ticket I received

Never heard of that before, but it doesn't entirely surprise me. I worked at a startup where several different VPs had "three hour lunches" with this striking blond woman. 15 years later, I'm at this new company. My former boss started working there and she brought me over at a nice raise and...

Russia Says It's Assembled a Lithography Machine, Will Make 350nm Chips

Easy. They get paid enough money. But not in almost worthless rubles, you can be sure.

Morally suspect help desk ticket I received

In my experience, both direct and second-hand, some companies are just rife with office affairs. The old Amdahl was probably the worse I ever heard about. "Everyone" is sleeping with "everyone else." Can create a really toxic environment for everyone involved. And sometimes you learn only...

Russia Says It's Assembled a Lithography Machine, Will Make 350nm Chips

A "coup" done by Ukrainians. Uh. Just ask the family of Alexei Navalny. Or listen to his speeches about the disintegration of the USSR. Or the way that Yevgeniy Prigozhin died.

Why does MacOS cost less in support in businesses than Windows

Yeah. I looked at certified used iPhones, and came to the same conclusion. Phones are cheaper on Swappa, but there is no recourse if you get a piece of crap I don't. I just want something decent.
